Guest guest
YES! yes! Hypo can severely impact pregnancy & gestation! I am so sorry for your loss. Infertility is far too common when hypo...so is miscarriage. The ladies (and gentlemen ) here can help you learn how to optimize your wife's thyroid function so you can more easily get pregnant and STAY pregnant. Good Luck! Laurie Wife had a Miscarriage-- Only on T4 Med Levoxyl 112 MCGs Other then feeling better on Armour..My wife is also Hypo thyroid. She is on Levoxyl 112 MCG and took recently TSH test and was 4.3 My wife was almost 3 months pregnant. This week she was going for her regular checkup and the doctor could not find a heartbeat anymore. Two weeks ago we say the heartbeat but now nothing The doctor said once you see a heartbeat your chances of success goes from 70% to 95 % but I guess statistics was not on our side. The doctor said she needs to have surgery (DNC). There was no explanations except that this can be a crmosnal problem. We are both very sadden since we have been trying for two years and this happens...It has been very hard on her. I gues everthing happens for a reason, but I do pray to god we have a baby some day soon... I think this happen partly because she is on T4 med only and not taking any T3 and better yet not taking any Armour. Can this be the problem or part of the problem? Thanks

Guest guest
So sorry to hear this! Hypo kept me from every getting PG when i was younger and wanted babies, then caused me to need an early hysterectomy, so it is vital she doesn;t STAY hypo if you want children. She needs to get on Armour and probably a pretty hefty dose of it. Hypothyroid mother is not healthy for any baby she might carry and could cause other problems if she was able to carry it so maybe it is best she gets herself on some good meds first. *Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV Old aunts used to come up to me at weddings, poking me in the ribs and cackling, telling me, " You're next. " They stopped after I started doing the same thing to them at funerals

Guest guest
I am sooo sorry. It is likely that your wife's thyroid problem and the ability to bring a healthy baby to term are connected. There are many parents and researchers who have made the connections between low iodine, low selenium stores, auto-immunity in moms, and autism spectrum disorders in children. These conditions certainly make the infants vastly more susceptible to long-term vaccination/mercury damage as well. I lost an early pregnancy the Spring before I got pregnant with my almost 12 y/o DD. She is my only and I am almost 53. I know it can feel so hopeless. I hope your wife can recover and take good care and that you will be blessed. .... ----- Original Message ----- My wife was almost 3 months pregnant. Guest guest
I am so sorry... the same thing happened to me back in October. That's what lead to my research about hashimoto's and hypothyroidism...and, ultimately, here. I was on .175 of synthroid - never adjusted - and by the time I was tested at 8 weeks of pregnancy my TSH was 11. The OB said that was a " little high " and gave me progesterone - totally unconcerned about my high TSH - he said that couldn't have caused the bleeding and then the miscarriage because my free T4 was normal. Just like in your wife's case, he said it was probably " chromosomal " . And, like in your case, we saw the baby on sono three times. Each time, they said it looked good and gave us the statistics about seeing the heartbeat, etc. I was almost out of the first trimester. Anyway, I now know that a lot of doctors, OB/GYNs included, know very little about how to handle hypothyroidism during pregnancy. IMO, I don't think your wife's m/c was caused by being on T4 only meds (unless she has a problem with conversion or anti-thyroid antibodies). Instead, I imagine it probably has more to do with not being tested frequently enough and not having her dosage adjusted often enough. Surprisingly, after my m/c, I read the physician's desk reference passage about synthroid and it clearly states that estrogen and estrogen containing birth control pills increase serum thyoid binding globulin - in other words, the body can't use the the T4 and T3 it receives or produces and the TSH goes up, but free T4 will be normal. The same thing happens with the surge in hormones during pregnancy. In the PDR it also says that the need for levothyroxine increases as EARLY AS FOUR WEEKS OF PREGNANCY. Doctors don't seem to notice or care about this important information. The advice given to me by both the OB/GYN and the endo I saw a few months later was that hypothyroid pregnant women need to be tested just once each trimester. Of course, they feel that as long as they do that, even if it's late in the first trimester, they've done all they need to do. That couldn't be further from the truth. It frustrates me so much, because I've yet to find a doctor that will listen. I've brought articles, tried to show them research about hypothyroidism during pregancy and no doctor will listen to me. I've been told I'm " grasping at little straws " and trying to " search for an answer you won't find " . I've been talked down to and dismissed. Whether the doctors will acknowledge it or not, though, being hypothyroid can cause miscarriage - there is no doubt. Here's an article you should read: http://thyroid.about.com/od/hormonepregnantmenopause1/a/dosechange.ht m?terms=pregnant+hypothyroid Sorry about my rant, this is just a topic that I'm very close to. My dh and I are trying again to get pregnant and I know that the next time - if there is one - I'll be much better prepared. Hopefully, you and your wife will be too, if you get the chance again. - Anne > > Other then feeling better on Armour..My wife is also Hypo thyroid. > She is on Levoxyl 112 MCG and took recently TSH test and was 4.3 > My wife was almost 3 months pregnant. Guest guest
, Dr Broda book, Hypothyroidism, The Unsuspected Illness, talks about miscarriages from being hypothyroid. If you have a library handy, I'd check this book out. If you can find the book, it's a great one to have on hand. He talks about a patient who was hypoT, and after getting pregnant, she'd stop her Armour (that was all they had back then) and she'd end up having a miscarriage. It took several times before he realized what was happening. When she stayed on armour, a successful, full term pregnancy, & a healthy baby was the results. :-) SandyE~Houston Wife had a Miscarriage-- Only on T4 Med Levoxyl 112 MCGs Other then feeling better on Armour..My wife is also Hypo thyroid. Guest guest
-, I actually had a miscarriage w/ my first pregnancy. I didn't know then that I was hypothyroid back then. I have read enough about it now to believe that was the cause of the miscarriage. I also have a friend that will miscarry if her progesterone level drops. She has to keep a watch on it throughout the pregnancy. She has 8 children now so there is hope! :-) I went on to have three children after my first and only miscarriage. Don't give up! I hope your wife has a good doctor that can help her figure out why this happened. I'm sorry for your loss. I know how you feel.
