Heya LJ...I too am new to the list, and am catching up on all the

posts...seems this gang should have some good info/suggestions for

you, they seem very nice!

I also am going on a Carribean cruise in Oct...and seriously, I

havent even THOUGHT of what to do on bad days!!! So, Im gonna think a

few secs here, and let ya know what I would do :) I too am one of

the " bad " ones that hurt really bad before taking a pill...I HATE

that knocked out feeling...

First and formost, bring all sorts of comfy clothes! Baggies Tshirts,

sweats, for both cold and warmer weather. Sure, will take up some

more space, but nothing worse than being caught in a flare in tight

clithes, feeling constricted and stuff...its VACATION, ya gotta be

able to relax! :)

Plan to drink lots and lots of bottled/distilled water. I find that

water helps me out quite a bit.

Bring your meds, just in case.

If it fits with your meds, no containdictions or anything, bring some

dramimine for motion sickness, if you dont already have anything for

it prescribed.

Hats, sunglasses, things to keep you from squintng. Ive lived in the

carribean, and the sun is so bright there...shade yourself!

find out what offers they have for medical attention, massages,

excersize, etc. Dont get too stiff, but dont overdo anything.

RELAX!! Stress puts me into a huge flare, you dont need that before a

trip, certainly not during it!! Its VACATION...enjoy!! :)

Hi LJ,

Welcome to the group. Don't apologize for dumping or venting here.

That's what we're here for. You sound like a lot of us with the drug

sensitivities. My doctor had to experiment a lot to find things I

could take that didn't have severe side effects on me, and that I

wasn't allergic to. NSAID's are the worst. They make me so sick to my

stomach, and I must have been tried on them all. Bextra, Celebrex,

you name it.

As for going on this cruise, just pace yourself, don't overdo it, and

be prepared, which it sounds like you are. Maybe go back to your

doctor to see if she'll give you something else to try, so at least

you have something in an emergency situation. Good luck, a cruise

sounds fun. I hope you have a good time.

Take care,

LJ~

Welcome to the group. I went on a cruise this past Sept. to Catalina & Baja,

Mx. I had a wonderful time except the 3 hr. time differnce. It was a 5 day

cruise. I felt ok. I was on Catalina for about 3 hours. We rented a golf cart

and toured some of it. We walked down the main street for about 45 min. I did

rest a little. We are planning to go on a 7 day cruise in Jan. to the Eastern

Caribbean. I would think that they would offer golf cart rentals also in the

towns. We are going to St. Maarten, Half Moon Cay, & St. . We have 3

at-sea days and the last cruise we had 1 at-sea day and it was so relaxing. My

husband & I explored the ship a little then I took a nap on the deck. I had to

go to the room though, it was cold out there. LA was having a cold snap and the

cruise just happened to be at the same time. I think they weather knew Ohio

people were heading out there and thought we may miss the cool weather. But it

was a great time. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I will help as

much as I can. Remember that it's vacation and you can go back to the ship when

you want. Which cruise line are you going on? We are going on Carnival cruise

line. Again, welcome to the group!
