Guest guest
Recently, I saw a general MD - he was a doctor born in India...and my pain level at the time was 7-8 from a migraine and lower back spasms, and anyway....to make a long story short...he told me that in HIS culture you have to accept pain in order to become a better person spiritually -(or something like that)! I will never go to another foreign doctor.....sorry, but after being told that 'we (FMS/CFS) make (the doctor) sick', and that FMS is caused by depression and I get no treatment until I see a psychiatrist...I found this visit laughable! I must be spiritually at the top of the spiritual plane after these last few years. Actually, I feel like i'm donating alot of money to watch these doctors write a work of fiction called 'My Chart'. When i've looked at my chart...there is no mention of pain...even though that's what I request the appointment for! -2 kmnewberry@... _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx

I will never go to another foreign doctor.....sorry, > , That's horrible! First of all, he's not in his culture anymore. Second of all, I think that suffering does give you a different perspective than people who don't suffer have. But to say you must accept pain to be a better person spiritually.... Geez, where do these doctors get there licenses? Crackerjack boxes? I'd like to see him live with pain like this for even a week. I guarantee he wouldn't be able to deal with it. So sorry you had to listen to that. Take care,
Guest guest
Sorry if this makes me sound like a racist but I prefer white American docs because we are of the same cultural beliefs....here in America, pain is NOT spiritual. I could really get into some cultural examples concerning doctor attitudes...based on real life experience...but I don't want to offend anyone. I will only say that the caucasian American doctors understand and respect my pain. Guest guest
OH MY!!!! This sounds like an experience with a horrible doctor. So bizzare you don't know whether to cry or to laugh!!!! I for sure would not go back there and put what he said in writing and send it to, well I don't know, the health insurance, board of physicians?? I don't know, somewhere!! I had a family doctor who was foreign, not India, but maybe?? and he actually treated a lot of fibro patients, because he did acupuncture. He was very down-to-earth, just really nice!!! I could not have a doctor, not matter what he/she looks like, if our beliefs don't match up. I mean, imagine having a doctor tell you to pray for less pain. This might be your belief, but that is not his job!!!! You just have to find a person you get along with. Besides, one not so funny thing about me is, that it is really difficult for me to understand people with heavy accents. Honestly!! I am German, I did not grow up speaking english, I don't have much of an acccent all anymore, but I can't understand people who do. Or talking to fast, or background noise. I'm not mean, and I don't want to be, but there are limits to what I can understand! Besides, being in pain does not make us more patient. I would have told this doctor that I don't need to listen to his *&$@&%#^% &$%#@^%&$. I don't know when this started, I always knew those words, never used them, but patience and impulse control are not at my best right now. :-) I hope you'll find a kind doctor!!
