Hi Everyone, I am new to this site but have much to say. My daughter le

has poly JRA. She was stricken at 15 mos and is now 5. Her school is trying

to get her therapy at the school! The principal, her teacher, and social

worker at the school are trying their best to get her in a program at school.

We are very lucky to have so much help being offered to us. I have read here

some of the other parents having trouble with their schools. We live in

Joliet, Il. Our rhuemy wants to put her on enbrel. We are really struggling

with this decision. Metho is ineffective due to the low dose she can

tolerate. Her arthritis is not getting better. So we are hoping to hear from

you parents out there who have been using the drug for a while, how it's been

going, and if youv'e noticed any side affects. Thank you for any and all

help, and God bless our beautiful and brave children;we are so lucky to be

blessed with them. Blanca

My 17 Year old has been on Enbrel for 9 months now. the first few doses

really made her sick to her stomach. I don't know if it is working or not.

She has more bad days than good right now. It did seem to help for a whle

though.

Hi Blanca

We haven't used enbrel. I'm just writing because you said you are from

Joliet. That was my Dad's hometown! We spent many summers up there, and

have fond memories.

Good luck with your decision. I know how hard it is to make these

decisions about meds.

Blanca,

We all have our own opinions.... I believe you do everything you can to

prevent joint damage. You can't fix joints, only replace them. My son

(13 years old, has had poly for 5 years) is a Metho non-responder. Even

though, he takes both Metho and Enbrel. This is working well with no

known side effects. With the only exception being his wrists, his joints

look good. Enbrel appears to be working well for Poly kids, even better

with Metho. I do not let him have the Enbrel injections if he is sick at

all because of the warnings connected to infections. We just skip them.

Thanks, Jana

Jana,

Kelsey also has poly, she's 3 1/2, and her wrists are also her " slowest "

joints to get better. Over the past month or so we've noticed a huge

improvement, but her little wrists have given her a terrible time. I wonder

why these joints are so slow to get better, or is it just coincidence?

I would really doubt it... there was a Marge who was a famous

LOL...I talked to W. Albert in a chat (I am a fan too) and asked

her if that was you Marge she was referring to. She said it was some

other Marge who was a famous herbalist. Oh well, good name. :)

Hi Barry!

What others say about the hook up, pretty much similar

stories but you have to remember that you will not

know what you are hearing until you hear on the hook

up day. Most likely the sound you will hear FIRST on

your activation day are the beeping sounds. It will be

a real great surprise for you! Aww, I just let the cat

out of the bag!

But, not as surprising as the sounds you will hear

eventually. Everything will sound like noise until

your brain adjusts to what you are hearing. Slowly,

you will start to identify sounds when you hear them.

It will be so exciting for you everyday!!! People will

ask you about your hearing, and what can you hear. It

is like a journey from the first day when you hear

what seems to be computerized/quacking sounds to the

days you can hear speech, music, and more. You might

hear some environmental sounds better at first. I

could not hear thunder the first week because of other

environmental sounds like wind, trees swinging back

and forth and rain. I could hear it but I could not

single it out until the following week. My brain

adjusted to that sound, and I hear it anytime we have

a thunderstorm. This is a good example of what might

happen to you after your activation. Music was always

easy to know right away when I hear it.

I have the 3G, so I can't say much about wearing the

BWP. You will find the best way to wear your BWP and

go with it.

I have been hearing almost four months, after being

born deaf. I don't always know what I am hearing but

it gets better over time. It will get better for you

over time too! I heard the warning beeps of my 3G only

once. Other times it may have went off, I did not

hear. I live in a world where there is a lot of noise.

Like and Dora? said, everyone is different and

will experience different levels of hearing.

I heard music at the gym for the first time yesterday.

It has always been there, but I did not notice until

yesterday. It just became clear to me! So whenever I

feel like I am not hearing anything, I remind myself

that it will get better down the road. I can't make

out what people are saying on the phone, but I can

still try. So will you. I can't figure out who is

calling me at home. Yet!

Something happened this week! I never knew that signal

lights at intersection make sound when they change

colors. I was waiting quietly for the light to change,

and I heard a sound that came from the signal light

when it changed! I asked my friend in the car, " did

that light change make a sound??????????? WOW! " . You

would think I would not hear that, guys? Sure, I can

hear phones ring anytime, but a signal light change?

Outside? Come on. But it happened, and I look forward

to more discoveries with my CI. You will probably feel

the same way, Barry!

In a nutshell, enjoy your week and the hookup day will

come faster than you could say cochlear implantation!

Hello,

My name is Liz. I recently joined this group after Pharmacy Tech Talk was

bombarded by junk mail, spammers and subjects nowhere related to Pharmacy.

I recently completed my studies for Pharmacy Technician. I just took the PTCE

on 7/17 and am awaiting the score results of my test.

I have been waiting for my school to help me find an externship. It has been

over 90 days now. I tried to talk to Walgreens to try to get into an externship

on my own and complete my 120 hours so that I can become a registered pharmacy

tech and look for work, but they said I have to have my school call them to

arrange an externship. I understand I am insured by my school while in an

externship.

Can anyone please give me some advice or any leads on finding an externship

myself. If I wait for my school to help me out (Boston College), I might

not get an externship and lose out on the chance to start working and gaining

experience as well as more knowledge in the field.

Thanks.

Liz

Dear All,

I have placed a document in the file section that has an example of

what I will be creating. It also has a blank script or Rx for you to

make your own script with bad handwritting. You may either make up

your own or immitate one from your real life experience or ask me

for one. Please also email me a text version so that I will know

what the potential error is, in the case that I can not decipher it.

Snail mail me the handwritten one. My address is on the tutorial.

This is what the instructional document with a template will look

like in the file section:

" Instructions for Making Fake Reality Rx's for Tutorial.doc

Instructions for making fake Rx's for the Free Tutorial on Reading

Rx's for Medication Errors Prevention and Study "

Thank you all,

Especially those who have voluntered to do the bad handwriting stuff.

Respectfully,
