Guest guest
Ask for Free T3 and Free T4, a thyroid antibody panel, a 24 hour cortisol test for the adrenals, and for sure allergy testing as some alergies can lead to hypothyroidism and make thyroid not work well to give energy. Celiac disease or wheat allergy is fairly common, actually more common that heart disease, and it causes thyroid problems and ruins your health. You might also ask for an ACTH level test (not ACTH stimulation test) to see if your brain thinks you have enough adrenal output. Sometimes the 24 hour cortisol test will look pretty normal but ACTH will be slightly elevated in adrenal fatigue. Ask for a full blood panel with ferritin, and tests for vitimins B12 and folic acid. These vitamins and minerals can be low in hypothyroidism and they will interfere with thyroid function. Low B12 and folic acid can lead to inflammation that can increase your risk of many conditions, one of them being arterialsclorosis. Also, you might consider a hormone panel, DHEA, estrodiol, estrone, estriol, progesterone and testosterone. Estrogens can be elevated or too low in hypothyroidism and progesterone and testosterone can be too low. All this can affect energy and well being. High estrogen may mean the thyroid hormone is being tied up. A typical doctor will object to all this, Tish
