Guest guest
Em, My ex had a benigh sebaceous (fatty) cyst about the size of a small lima bean behind his ear down towards the neck his whole life - the dermatologist said to just leave it alone. Coincidentally, our son has a similar cyst in the same area. Of course you should have a doctor look at it, but I'm writing to say not to be alarmed. Guest guest
Em, I had one of these cysts a few years ago near my eyebrow. They can get quite large so I had it lanced in the doctors office for cosmetic reasons. They are entirely harmless but do tend to recur. My last basset hound was even prone to them. I hope it is either a cyst or simply an enlarged node due to infection. I tend to go with the latter because it came up in a couple of hours, just boom, there it was. It's quite large, so if it had been there longer I think I would have noticed it, you know, putting on makeup or something. But it doesn't hurt, which I would think it would, if it were infected. Kinda stumped. Have an appt with my internist on Friday, so I'll have her take a look at it. Thank you guys for the tips, and I'll let you know if I ever find out what it is.
