Guest guest
During my evaluation I had a urine test. I also had a lot of other tests – full body scan, PFT, Echo Stress, lots of blood work, etc. I know they make sure you do not have any cancer, that your heart and lungs are healthy, and there are no other diseases that might impact the transplant. I would consider it a normal start of a transplant evaluation; however, the best way to find out why is to ask them. It is more than likely a part of their protocol. Guest guest
The urine test is for alchohol and drugs – if you give them a list of your prescribed drugs, they will discount those in the results. For instance, normally Phenobarbital would disqualify me, but my hep dr prescribed it so that was ok. Guest guest
Urine test also tell if you may have diabetes, or kidney problems. My facility did a 24 hour urine test which gives insight to how well your kidneys are working. Liver disease can cause kidney problem which clear up after the liver is transplanted.
