Guest guest
Nita, Hi! I'm not sure exactly what the difference is in the formulations, but I know that there is a difference in them. I could not tolerate Ursodiol at all. However, when I got switched to Urso Forte, I didn't have any problems with it at all. My guess is it might have something to do with the way they are compounded or different amounts of ingredients, etc., but, truthfully, I have no clue! I'm just so glad that, whatever the new Urso is, it's working for you! Hope you're feeling better and better! Sandi in VA/Rochster
Guest guest
My doctor said they are the same, but I agree something has to be different – besides the price. For me the Urso-Forte sometimes caused stomach upset, but Ursodiol (Actigal) never did even at higher doses. Wonder if it could be the binding agent? Hi! Guest guest
Hi Anita; There are different formulations of ursodiol, with different 'packing' materials in the different products made by different companies. See the first page of this newsletter article on ursodiol formulations: http://www.pscpartners.org/NewsVol-1-6.pdf The pills called URSO 250 (250 mg) and URSO Forte (500 mg) are made by Axcan Pharma; the ones called Actigall are made by Pharmaceuticals. I wonder whether it may be something in the filler that you have been allergic to in the first product you tried? Best regards, Dave (father of (23); PSC 07/03; UC 08/03) >I'm tolerating just fine. Does anyone know the difference and why this doesn't make me sick?
