If you blow smoke into the ear, it helps with the pain. I had a friend that once used a straw to blow smoke into her ear when I told her it might help and she said it helped. Just an old wives tale I learned about when trying to learn medicine and what the lay persons knew that doctors wouldn't tell us. Don't know if it works, but when an ear hurts, you will do just about anything to stop it. One thing I do know is that heat can make an infection spread, so heat wouldn't be good, but I don't think there is enough heat in second hand smoke to spread anything. The ear pain that we fibromites sometimes have could have many reasons for being there, but most likely they are not infection. One of the things I know I suffer are fathom tooth pain and ear aches that are not the serious pain type of ear aches, but more like sinus pain ear aches. The way I figure it is if it isn't an infection, you might as well do what makes you comfortable, after all, that seems to be the only thing doctors can do is try to make us comfortable, cause they sure can't cure us.
