I ordered and read this book (What Your Doctor May Not Tell You About

Fibromyalgia)last year. There are no big secrets in it. It was

written by a physician in California who believes that fibro is

related to phosphates in our bodies and recommends using guaifenisin

(a cough medicine) to clear the phosphates out (you have to read the

book for the chemistry). Many people swear by this therapy.

Unfortunately, it did not work for me. This doctor also recommends

a " hypoglycemic " (low blood sugar) diet and you have to stay away

from all products containing salicylates for the guaifenisin to

work. I couldn't see anything harmful about any of the

recommendations. It is a well balanced diet, and the medication will

not hurt you (not addictive or anything). Most people feel worse

before they feel better when they start clearing the phosphates from

their bodies. It is a positive, hopeful book. It just doesn't work

for everyone.

There were problems with this physician's research methodology, so he

could not get these findings published. Therefore, he wrote this

book to get the word out about this help for fibro. I do not know

why no further research has been done, or perhaps it is underway.

There is nothing scary about this book. I am in the midst of the

worst and longest flare I've ever had with fibro, so I saw no reason

not to give this protocol a try. Like I said, it just doesn't work

for everyone.
