On Nov 3rd I had an Ileostomy surgery and have a bag. There is a lot of drainage from my belly button. The doctor said that is because of my PSC. The liver is holding water and this is why I have drainage. It will take a while for it to end. My Bilirubin is also high. It was 10 and has come down to 4 and hopefully will go down even more. Is this normal. has anyone else experince this? Also, sorry for the gross details, have drainage from my back side and that is also normal and might take longer due to PSC. Is this normal? Has anyone else experince this? Please help!!!!!!! arman_shirin (AT) yahoo (DOT) com

Guest guest
The drainage from behind is normal. I had that too and freaked right out...afterall, they diverted the route and it was supposed to go to the bag, but sometimes it passes by the ileostomy and ends up being eliminated the old-fashion way. Normal!! Cindy Baudoux-Northrup

Guest guest
I hope that your surgery went well. I am the proud " mom " of a 3 year old ileostomy (Candyce as she is affectionately named). There is going to be a period of adjustment before some degree of normalcy will come into your life. I still have that little drainage problem at the back door even 3 years later; it is to be expected and when it does occur, just have a seat and let it drain. The rectal stump has a mind of its own. The belly button leak/ooze will also stop after about 2-3 weeks, it is just your body and the healing that is taking place. Having been through all of what you are experiencing brings back memories for me. I am more than happy to discuss any of this further. Please feel free to e-mail me privately. Guest guest
Arman, There is a conversation about this very thing today on the yahoo ostomy support group (minus the PSC element of course). You might join it and have a look. They seem to be very helpful and understanding there. mom to Pearl, PSC/AIH/Crohn's >

Guest guest
I had a temporary ileostomy for 3 months once my j-pouch was created and healing inside me. I didn't have drainage from my belly button. Nor do I recall drainage from my behind. I did have drainage from a hole in my lower abdomine. There was some kind of bulb that the liquid drained into, and which I emptied. This may have continued longer than usual, but I was not told it was due to the PSC.Marie To: From: arman_shirin@...Date: Wed, 19 Nov 2008 15:12:43 -0800Subject: Ileostemy and PSC I got a question.
