Oh Yes, I can relate. There are some days that the urge will be

there to say, " hmmm better get up from my desk and go " ...but by the

time I walk 100 ft to the ladies room..... I have almost no control.

I now wear bladder control pads every day. Some days, no problem,

other days there is.

Sneezing on those days as with laughing can be a problem...even

walking into a very chilly air conditioned store can be a

problem..other times, no.

The doctor says exercises couldn't hurt, but that this is a side of

fibro that , in his experience/practice, comes and " goes " (pardon the

pun)

You are not alone....I try to schedule bathroom breaks more often

than I " need " just to keep the possibility of accidents to a

minimum. The wonderful " Poise " pads or similar products help for

thos time when I just can't quite hold it.

I thought this was a condition of age but at 54, Dear Dr. said no.

So I Kiegel away at my desk, while driving, make frequent " pit stops "

limit caffiene, as it is a diuretic, and am going to buy stock in

whatever company makes these great protective pads.

Keep smiling....and I'm off to the bathroom

Hi Darcy,

Just a little silly response...

After I had my son, I had this problem and I remember teaching

patients (I'm a RN) to do Kegels every time you're at a red light.

The funny thing is, I occasionally chuckle when I'm at a red light

doing my " workout " and I look over at the car next to me and see

another woman. I think, hmmm, is she kegeling too? The red light

workout class!

Pam gave you an excellent response. All of her tips are right on

target. Just don't limit your fluid intake! Make sure that you

mention this to your physician.

take care of yourself,

Thanks Pam, your story sounds like the one lady at work who had been

like this since she has twins at an early age. I've neither had kids

nor am close to menopause age, I'm 39. I'm use to my fibro playing

havoc with my eyes, but up to this point, have never had problems with

any muscle bladders. I also go to the bathroom probably a minimum of 12

times a day, but then I do drink a lot of fluids too. It's nice to know

that there are others out there with these problems.

Thanks . I definitely don't limit fluids, I always am drinking

water. No, not diabetic, just thirsty a lot. I had debated whether I

should mention it to my doctor or not since it was a one time occurrence

(so far, knocking on wood), but I guess you're right, it doesn't hurt to

let her know.

I'm there too :) I just attributed mine to having kids which may or may not be

the actual cause but it works for me. Actually the more reading I do it seems

like every problem I have ever had can be related to the fibromyalgia and it's

common coexisting conditions.

Anyway...I usually only have problems when I cough or sneeze so when I have a

cold I always wear pantiliners (fortunately I don't lose too much control) but

it's a bummer on those unexpected and unprotected sneezes or coughs. I'd do the

kegel exercises if I could FIND them but I haven't had much luck isolating the

right muscles :( Not very coordinated (another one of many things chalked up to

fibro).

OMG! I thought it happened to me because of having the babies and not doing

enough Kegal exercises!

Thanks for sharing, I least I can now blame it on the right thing.
