Guest guest
Hi Ami, That’s what was going on with me over the weekend, with the addition of very mild nausea. The doc had me go in yesterday. Of course, the fever had dropped by then. When he asked if the feeling in my abdomen was the same as I’ve experienced before, and I said yes, he replied that sometimes you can get a sub-clinical infection that you are almost fighting off. (I can’t remember the exact word he used.) He gave me Cipro and I feel way better this morning. He's been running these low-grade temps off and on for over a week now, with his highest being Friday night when he was at 101.0 for a while, then drifted back down to almost normal by bedtime (without tylenol or ibuprofen). He really has NO other symptoms, other than being tired, but on a daily basis has periods of his temp being 99.?, which is getting frustrating. No respiratory stuff, no pain anywhere, no nausea/vomitting, occasional diarrhea, that's it. I finally got a copy of his last labs from December 18, which were all normal for him. His ALT & AST had risen slightly, but still in range. Bili is exactly the same (0.6), and ALP is fine. CBC was good, with his WBC being just below range (normal for him since tx) and lymphocytes being low, also (also normal now). The only abnormal was that he's turned hyperthyroid, so we have to adjust his meds again there. But that's it. I'm taking him in tomorrow. He can't see his doctor because he's SO booked, but the NP who is going to see him will let his doctor know what's going on immediately. We're going to do a follow-up Hepatic Panel and CBC, and then whatever else she thinks we need to look at. I think he looks pale, Jon thinks he's a bit yellow-y. But I don't know if that's simply a mind to eye trick because we're worried. How likely is it that he could go from totally normal Hepatic panel less than 3 weeks ago to his liver being sick again with no change in his immunosuppression, etc? What would very early symptoms be of recurrance? With the fact that the PSC was not his only issue, and he was sick and requiring a DIFFERENT organ tx when we found the liver disease, nothing presented as a DEFINTE liver issue until quite a ways in. So, my wise and knowlegable friends, what do we think? (I'll be happiest if you tell me I " m being a paranoid ninny, though I do want your honest thoughts.) I hope everyone is good, and had a Merry Christmas and safe New Year's eve!!!
