I agree with Sandy about some of the doctors on the top doc list and perhaps

some of the recommended ' doctors.

I went to one from the about.com list; she had rave reviews...ALL on the same

date, which I didn't notice and someone pointed out. She DID prescribe Armour,

so it wasn't all bad. She's more of a bariatric doctor, though, and prescribed

scads of appetite suppressants, which I did NOT need as I was unable to eat,

anyway...prescribed metformin; when I told her that it made me ill and tired,

diarrhea, etc., her reaction was to triple the dose and prescribe glyset, as

well. I did not fill all of the prescriptions; it became easier to just take

them and not argue.

She's a fanatic about labwork; would NOT give me the results at any time until I

was in for an appointment (had to wait a month each time for results). She

wanted me to come in every month.

She also did not do the ferritin test, despite my asking on three separate

occasions; she finally said, " Well, we don't need to worry about that. " My

ferritin was 9; I asked the gynecologist about getting the test, which she

agreed to do.

As for the " ' doc, " well, he was the absolute worst doctor I've ever been

to. Wanted to know why I'd want to be on Armour, insisted that all of my

problems were due to allergies, wanted to order lots of very expensive tests,

despite the fact that I'd recently had testing done and had brought the results

in to him...threw a fit about my going to another doctor FIRST: " Why did you go

to HER and not to ME...!? "

I did call the Foundation to report my experience and sent an e-mail to them.

Doctors apparently can get onto their list just by asking...

First post - need help

Greetings all,

I'd like to tell my " story " but first, can anyone recommend a good

endocrinologist and naturopathic physician in Seattle or nearby areas?

I have an appt. with endo. Murray (Polyclinic) in April. Living in

Bastyr-land (school of naturopathy) but don't know who to go to.

Janet
