I overheat all the time too but I am not sure if I do because of the Fibro or

Hypoglycemia or both.

overheating

i'd like to hear if more of you have problems with overheating.

i've only seen the one message that mentioned it.

i have a real problem with it...doesn't matter where i am or what i'm

doing. i can be sitting in church and everyone else is comfortable

and i'm burning up.

i dread going shopping. as soon as i walk in the store or mall..i'm

instantly hot. i've wondered if it's menopause, altho' my gyny says

no...but as i think about it it started about 3-4 years ago same time

i realized that i probably have fms.

so embarassing standing there dripping when others are cold or

comfortable. and to think i use to lay out in the sun on

purpose....boy those days are over.

anyone else have this problem?

I have noticed that some of the antidepressants I have been on have made me

very hot. Effexor XR was really bad but Zoloft didn't affect me at all. I

have just started on prozac again after a year of being off and will see if

that one does it also.

Just because your gyn said it isn't menopause doesn't mean it's not

peri-menopause. I have read that hot flashes can start a couple years

before the actual onset of menopause.

Yes, I have a problem with it. I use to really be able to take all

kinds of heat and loved it! Now, I get overheated if I have to iron one

or two small things! The standing in front of the oven can make me feel

too hot or the stove too for that matter. When I know I'm going to be

doing something really hot, I get one of those neck thingies that you

soak in water to help keep me cool. That doesn't work on those times

when I suddenly get hot for no reason. Nope, not in pre menopause.

Yes, I do have the problem with overheating. It happens to me a lot. I am just

dripping with perspiration when I am in the mall or someone's house, at work. I

used to be cold all the time. No more,my hubby is usually the warm one, now it's

me.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Sharon, you're definitely NOT alone. I have had the same problem for years

and was half-convinced that being overweight was a factor. When I was first

diagnosed with FMS, I was living with my parents-- a terribly humbling thing

for an independent 28 year old woman, I must say! My mother is thin, has

Rheumatoid Arthritis and is *constantly chilled.

We fought over the thermostat for weeks until, frustrated to my wits' end at

being horribly hot and uncomfortable, I finally said, " Mom, you can always

put more clothes on, but there's only so much I can take off before I'm

naked! " At that point, we just looked at each other and laughed. Soon

after, we reached an agreement on the thermostat.

In the summer, I rarely leave my air-conditioned home during the day, unless

it's to get into an air-conditioned car and go to some air-conditioned

location. The heat gives me horrible headaches and the humidity really

wreaks havoc on my fibro symptoms. So, no beach, zoo, or park outings or

afternoons spent gardening for me these days... much to my disappointment.

-Mareth, who's already dreaming of cool, crisp, autumn weather...

Sharon,

Isn't it funny how you think you are the only one with

a certain problem and then you read a message from

someone else and you think " Wow. someone else out

there feels this way. " That's how I feel ALL the time,

too, Sharon!!

Same with me no matter what I am doing or where I am,

I stay hot, dripping with swaet And yes it is

embarassing. I stay in an air contionined house with a

fan on my face constantly!!!I have a really hard time

doing just about anything. Oh, Boy!!!

I can be in a complete sweat by doing nothing. What

was funny, I, too, sit in church burning up. People

laugh and call me " fanny " . Constantly fanning my face.

Thanks so much for your post, Sharon. Of course that's

what this group is all about, right? Each person

giving someone else a moment of hope by knowing you

are not alone.

God Bless you all,

Kathy

Hi everyone. I'm new to the list and will send a bio later. When

my fibro is in a flare, that is when I can be sitting in a cold room

and be sweating. It's very aggravating. I've been diagnosed with

the fibro for about 12 yrs now. I'm 47. I have all the symptoms

for about 10 yrs before that. I've been on SSDI for 4 yrs now.
