Guest guest
Hi, Arne and everyone else. Sorry I have not posted an update on my status in quite a while. I am behind on reading posts and am now reading messages from 1-9-09. Maybe later today I will be caught up. However, it's already after 3AM, I have to get to sleep, today (January 18) is my birthday and my husband Jim and I have a busy day planned. He has serious neurological problems and is emotionally and physically dependent on me. I was diagnosed with PSC in 1999 and two years ago with mild UC after a routine colonoscopy. My GI put me on Asacol. Now two years later after another colonoscopy he said my colon is perfect and told me I can discontinue the Asacol, which I have done. Meanwhile, while on Asacol, I started having seizures so I am seeing a neurologist who has me on Keppra which is a well-known anti-epileptic drug. Keppra alone and in combination with other anti-seizure medicines did not prevent seizures, so I have diagnosed myself with psychogenic non-epileptic seizures and am maintaining as low a level of stress as I can, which is helping. I am having blood tests done this week before a routine visit with my GI and a routine visit with my internist next week. I was having a real problem with hepatic encephalopathy (brain fog), and am on Xifaxan 2 tablets 3xdaily which is a commonly recommended dosage and which has helped greatly. I don't think my order for blood work includes ammonia level and don't know if I take time to have ammonia level added to the order. I am thinking Xifaxan might have something to do with my being cured of UC. Sorry to be rambling on, but as I said, I am just checking in. My main problems right now are sleep cycle disturbance which I deal with by sleeping from about 3AM-11AM which works for my husband and me since both of us are retired. Margie in MO DOB 1-18-46 PSC DX 1999, mild UC DX 2006, UC no longer present 2008, brain fog, sleep cycle disturbance, mild itching, dry skin (probably from RX meds I am on)
