If you have a painful bladder inflammation call interstitial > cystitis (IC), the cranberry juice will aggravate the symptoms. IC feels like a a permanent urinary tract infection. There is a lot of pain along with a unitary urgency and day and night frequency sometimes up to 60 times a day, That's a bit much. IC isn't caused by bacteria and doesn't respond to antibiotics. Cranberry juice -- usually so helpful in knocking out urinary tract infections -- has the exact opposite on IC. It irritates the bladder, because it is acidic. If you suspect your urinary tract infection might be IC, see a doctor. There is procedure that can check for pinpoint hemorrhages in the bladder wall, the hallmark of IC.
