My TSH was 2.1 when I was diagnosed but my mental faculties had

decayed so badly that I was considering early onset Alzheimeres. I

was disoriented to the point of having trouble telling what day it

was, not knowing my own phone number and looking at the key fob form

my car and not knowing which picture to push to lock the doors. I

was in the middle of a PhD program, too, and my reading

comprehension was basically gone. With my doc, I took in one of my

academic journals, showed her an article and said, " I should be able

to read this. I should be able to WRITE this. But I can't anymore.

It's gibberish. "

She told me that 'high-functioning' people tend to notice the mental

effects of hypoT more, and they suffer more when they feel them.

Another mark to the good for Martha, btw - she recognizes that the

brain fog is a valid symptom.
