Guest guest
Google " hyponatremia " , and see what you come up with there. I do run a higher blood pressure, instead of a low one, but that may have little or nothing to do with the adrenal problems. They always say low blood pressure with low adrenal, but it taint necessarily so because there can be narrowing of the blood vessels, namely the coronary arteries, that cause a higher blood pressure (permanent), when the blood is ejected from the heart, so a person is not necessarily going to have low blood pressure, in order to have low adrenal substances. Hyponatremia is a kidney quirk and requires much higher amts of salt than ordinary. I've never been diagnosed with this, and my so-called kidney function tests (bun, etc...) are always normal, yet, I have a tendency to hold a lot of fluid, if I don't eat plenty of salt. I've suspected low adrenal substances, one or the other, for quite awhile, but haven't had that tested. I have had awful swelling on and off for about 5 yrs. I finally decided with trial and error that I did better with MORE salt in my diet. If I swelled really badly I went and bought a bag of chips and ate the whole thing during the day. When I mentioned it to my doctor she basically rolled her eyes and told me to stop eating salt. (I have no blood pressure problem at all just swelling) I mentioned it to my registered nurse sister-in-law and got the same response. I have searched the internet looking for ANY information that might lead this direction and came up with NOTHING. Salt Deprivation, low salt diet. Anything I could think of. So today! Someone mentions Aldosterone Deficiency. I have not spent a lot of time looking into this yet but. It is an Adrenal problem!!?? Seems like a bit of a coincidence to me! Here I am thinking adrenals may be a big part of my problem. Anyone know more about this? Cluckymom

Guest guest
That Free T4 is way too low by any standards, even considering the method of testing used. That lab range has a way too high high end to it and should be more like 2. something. Sheesh! Anyway, you still need the Free T3. She's certainly right about a " thyroid movement " , people are getting tired of feeling at the mercy of an Establishment that's keeping them sick all the time. I'm self treating, due to the ignorance. I've had some problems, but at least I'm up and moving, whereas I wasn't over a yr ago. But I wanted to post the latest Thyroid test results I got today. I've been on 2 grains of Thyroid-S for about 2 months and it has helped me tremdously. Well, I saw my regular doctor (Dori Mc at Kaiser) Tuesday and told her I had been self medicating. She gave me a very stern talk about how I need to consult with her first and then she sent me to the lab for Thyroid testing. Before I went to the lab, though, she said she wasn't opposed to me taking it and that she will prescribe Armour...Yeah!! It will be a lot cheaper through Kaiser Permanente. Anyway, she only tested my TSH and my Free T4. No Free T3 test! Well, here are the results: TSH is .01 (.028 - 5.8) FT4 is 1.0 (0.28 - 5.00) This is too low, isn't it?? I'd like any and all comments, if you will. Thanks everybody for being there! This is a truly great place!! Tressie in Oregon PS: She also told me there is a Thyroid movement going on out there and she had a patient come in a few days before me with a thick stack of Thyroid in from the internet. I'm not sure what she thought about that! lol

Guest guest
I have this problem still, from time to time, ever since I carried my 3rd and 4th children, but I think it was caused by early hypo symptoms. It usually manifests now, when I'm low thyroid and need an increase, and when I've been doing mild crunches with my stomach or some such activity that is similar, as in lifting something, you know, that sort of thing. Anyway, what I do is to reach up to the facing of a doorway, and let my body stretch out in the midsection, with lower back slightly arched. This pulls the muscle into a stretch to allow the release of the cramp. This is the only way that it goes away within around 30 seconds or so. Ouch, it hurts, too! What I have experienced is not pain but an actual " Charlie Horse " of the muscles over the ribs. No pain at all except when it is locked up and I am literally writhing trying to find a position that will release it! LOL *Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV Fat cat? Diabetes?
