Guest guest
We report two cases of acute hepatitis in the setting of Hydroxycut exposure and describe possible mechanisms of liver injury. An increased effort to screen for and educate patients and physicians about supplement-associated hepatotoxicity is warranted. http://www.wjgnet.com/1007-9327/abstract_en.asp?f=6999 & v=14 Barb in Texas - Together in the Fight - Whatever it Takes! Guest guest
Hi Barb,I have heard a bit about Hydroxycut, when it came out a few years ago. Some of the athletes around campus were talking about it. One of my teammates asked our strength coach about using it, and he told her no. I would not recommend it to any of my athletes now. I am pretty sure it works by speeding up your metabolism, through speeding up your heart. I think it is very dangerous in combination with weight lifting and conditioning where you are exerting yourself maximally. Anyway, I am not a huge artificial supplement person, mostly because they are not regulated and you can get cheated or hurt by what you don't know is in the can. Thanks for attaching this link. I will keep it on file for anyone who I find is using this amongst our athletes. I don't think there are many, if any.nnenne Duluth, Minnesota UC 2002, PSC 2008Subject: Hydroxycut / hepatotoxicity liver toxicity from herbal weight loss supplementsTo: Date: Monday, December 8, 2008, 3:44 PM We report two cases of acute hepatitis in the setting of Hydroxycut exposure and describe possible mechanisms of liver injury.
