Guest guest
Frances, I agree, but short of some local advocacy group that deals with that issue, I don't know of anyone who handles it. Might be a good idea for a non-profit group, huh? Sure would help out in these times of high prescription prices. I'm sure the pharmaceutical companies would move legally to block such an effort, but it sure would benefit a lot of sick people. Hmmmm...Need to think on this one. Good luck. Guest guest
Frances- Have you talked to your local hospital? My grandmother had tons of leftover meds after she passed that were never used. We're talking over 100 different kind of medications. My grandfather was able to donate it to the hospital to the certain part of the hossy for those patients who can really afford their medications. I would look into that. Good luck! in CAfrances kerr wrote: does anyone know a place to donate meds i accidently bought abunch of tegretol after i was switched to topamax and now here i sit with 3 mths worth of this very useful very expensive medicine that cost me $15 on my drug plan and a small fortune to others paying cash. i just want to donate it to somebody and no doc or pharmacy can help me-any ideas appreciated-i dont want to and refuse to flush if i have to i,ll sit outside a doc office when it cools down and ask everyone if they need it i know thats crazy but i just cant see over $500 dollars worth of medicine going down the drain when there are so many needy people with seizures or any kind of affliction. it just sucks i think they should let you turn it in for donation somewhere"The LUPIES Store" Come check out our store...http://www.cafepress.com/thelupies"The LUPIES Web Page"http://www.itzarion.com/lupusgroup.html"The LUPIES online photo albums!" Guest guest
I missed the original post but it sounds as if someone is discussing a way to use meds that we cannot take anymore. I think my mother found a silent group to do this with after my father died. He had some meds that a woman/man needed and could not afford. Somehow Mom got the meds that were left over from dad to the person in need. I don't know if this was done through a group or what. She was a faciliator for Hospice at the time. I know last night while I was at her place cleaning she said there was a lady in one of the apartments who was suppose to be lasics and her insurance would not pay for it. Mom had just had a script filled and was unable to take the stuff, so the neighbor is getting it. There might be some danger in this but I can see a lot more benefit. As long as a person knows who they are giving the drugs to and know that they won't be abused, hey, I'm all for it. It would be nice to pass on the cupboard full that I have. Most being anti-inflamatories of one sort or another. The darn things just make my liver readings go up. Guest guest
Barb, and all interested parties, I wrote to Senator Diane Feinstein from CA about this issue. She is looking into it as far as rules and regs are concerned. Maybe we can start something good, here. Loving hugs, MM
