Bridging Borders to Prevent AIDS

A Binational Conference for Promotores de Salud/Community Health Workers

The purpose of this conference is: 1) To forge linkages between groups in the

U.S. and Mexico that provide HIV/AIDS prevention services targeting migrant

farmworkers and their families; and 2) To strengthen the skills of the

Promotores de Salud/Community Health Workers who conduct prevention activities

aimed at this at-risk population.

All interested organizations and individuals are encouraged to submit an

abstract proposing the presentation of a participatory 1.5 to 2 hour workshop

for the Bridging Borders to Prevent AIDS conference.

Please give a brief description of intended presentation, limited to 250

Identify learning outcomes for attendees.

Please note that the audience for each workshop will be community health

workers, many of whom have limited formal education. Preference will be given

to presentations in Spanish (but simultaneous translation will be available).

We are particularly interested in workshops that are interactive and focus on

the bi-national theme of the event. Workshops could address:
