Guest guest
Greetings, everyone I just went to see my new PCP for the second time. I have to say I am very impressed with her! My first visit was 2 months ago, when I had an upper respiratory infection, and she remembered everything I told her about my Fibro & asked intelligent, relevant questions this time. Anyway, that's not why I'm posting... I went off of my depression meds (Paxil and Wellbutrin) almost a year ago when my insurance changed and those prescriptions went from being $5 each to $35 each. That was way too steep of an increase for someone like me, who has no income whatsoever. Since I'm going through a really rough time right now and struggling with the depression, I mentioned to her that I would like to start seeing a mental health counselor, in addition to the pain psychologist I have to see every 4-8 weeks, just in order to continue taking Oxycodone. She gave me a referral & also suggested that I try taking Celexa, which may be less expensive for me to purchase. She gave me a month's worth of samples to try & see if I like it. This is my second night taking 10 mg. I take it about 1-2 hours after eating and it's making me terribly nauseated. The room also spins if I stand or sit up too quickly. And, of course, I have the typical side effect: cotton mouth. I'm wondering if anyone on the list takes Celexa and what their experiences have been-- both while adjusting to the new medication and long term-- with these pills. Does it make anyone else nauseated or is this something I should call her office and discuss with her? What about the spinning room? I know that it takes a while to adjust to new antidepressants, so I guess my main concern at this point is whether these are appropriate, typical reactions or something else? In case anyone wonders, yes, my PCP is aware of the other medications I'm currently taking, in addition to my vitamin & mineral supplements: 10 mg. Oxycodone, 2/day 2 mg. Zanaflex, 2/day 200 mg. Celebrex, 2/day Thanks for taking the time to read this... I hope everybody has a blessed day, -Mareth _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com
Guest guest
Mareth~ I have taken Celexa and I didn't like it at all. One side effect that no one told me was weight gain. It made me hungry all the time. I gained 40 lbs from Aug. - Jan. I wasn't taking it for depression, but I'm sure the side effects are the same no matter what your taking it for. I still have yet to lose the weight. I had the dizzyness, but I was already dizzy. http://us.i1.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/tsmileys/1.gif " > I wanted to let you know. Guest guest
I was put on Celexa after I went off of Effexor XR about 3 months ago. The doctor said she had alot of success with the Celexa and FMS, but I couldn't take it. It made me very impatient and moody...actually, I was pretty nasty to everyone. My husband told me I was calling the doctor about my attitude or he was! I didn't do that on the Effexor, so they put me back on it. I didn't have the nausea or lightheadedness, but it did make me sleepy all the time. Guest guest
Hi Mareth!! I took Celexa for several days. I could feel the tiredness coming on and stopped. About two hours after taking it I would be extremely tired!! My husband was taking it and his main complaint was also being tired. I switched to Prozac. I LOVE it!! Not a big change in me, but I am more balanced. I can actually think about things now before I say something (rude) back. :-) No sleepyness, but appetite supression. I will take it for another week and see if I can eat close to normal, otherwise I'll have to try something new. take care, In a message dated 5/15/2002 12:06:54 AM Mountain Daylight Time, mareth_summerwind@... writes: > Greetings, everyone > > I just went to see my new PCP for the second time. Guest guest
I took Prozac, but it made my heart race. I took Zoloft, made me so groggy, I couldn't function. I took Welbutrin. I was able to tolerate that for about 6 months, but then started having tremors. Doc took me off the welbutrin, but still had the tremors. I also realized that on the Welbutrin, I had something like IBS. The only good thing about it was I lost 15 pounds. Unfortunately, since going off of it, I gained most of it back. Has anyone been able to successfully lost weight and deal with Fibro/CFS? I need to lose weight - I hate the way I look. My daughter is getting married next year and I dread looking for a dress at the size I am at now. I try to walk when the weather is nice - but the weather has been so miserable here. ( I can't believe it the middle of May and we are to have more rain and chilly temps this weekend.) I have cut out alot of the junk food I was eating - haven't eaten chocolate for over a month or so. Guest guest
Dear Cathy, The only thing that has worked for me in losing weight is Methotrexate (which I take for my RA); in fact, I had to quit taking it in Feb. due to having neck surgery in March, and I gained 15lbs before and after surgery! I saw my doc yesterday, and my neck has healed so well that, not only can I stop wearing the neck brace, I can also re-start my meds for RA. So, I figure I'll be back in shape before long. I hope you can lose some weight too, but no matter, enjoy your daughter's wedding! ~~~~
Guest guest
, I'm so glad to hear how well your neck is healing from the surgery. I bet you're so glad to get the neck brace off! I'm glad you can also restart taking your necessary meds too. Take care, > Dear Cathy, > > The only thing that has worked for me in losing weight is > Methotrexate (which I take for my RA); in fact, I had to quit taking > it in Feb. due to having neck surgery in March, and I gained 15lbs > before and after surgery!
