Guest guest
Ok, my daughter’s liver levels have been really great…she is on 250 mg three times a day of Urso, so I don’t know if that is high dose or not. She is 10 years old and is about 70 lbs She got poison ivy here recently and not a bad case at all! But she has itched and itched…even in places that don’t have poison ivy…he has torn the skin on her legs and arms and even on her neck. The poison ivy looks clear except for one spot on her face which of all things she isn’t itching there. Could this be the itching that is associated with the PSC or is it just a child who is in the habit of itching??? Does your liver levels need to be elevated to experience itching associated with PSC? When should I call her doctor? Thanks for any help you guys can give on this topic. In Christ, Bethany Hunt " Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Guest guest
I always recommend having a good body or bath brush with a long handle. It prevents scratches that draw blood, can reach everywhere and the bristles over stimulate the nerves and give more relief. You can also soak it in bleach or antibiotic soap to keep it clean. I also put a light coat of vaseline on my skin to keep it moist without using lotions with alchohol or purfume. I rub it on and wipe off any that feels slippery. It is also very cheap. Guest guest
My daughter as a child (she is 26 now) was very allergic to poison ivy. She would itch like crazy in areas that she did not even have the rash. An allergic reaction makes your body release histamine that can cause itching. Warm area of the body will release more histamine. PSC Listed

Guest guest
>>>Has she tried cholesteramine for the itching? <<< This is a new thing for her…I haven’t even told her doc yet…though I intend on doing that at her appointment this month. I hate to think of her on yet another medication…but…we want her comfortable too…she seems to be itching less now…so maybe it was just poison ivy causing histamine like said. I don’t know…I am not a doctor, I just play one at home…LOL In Christ, Bethany Hunt Mom to , 10 years old PSC & UC since Dec '03 " Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Guest guest
Cholestramine is not a bad med to go on. It is a powder that you mix with whatever you want. I had it suggested to mix with water. I tried it once and almost threw up. For me I mix it with applesauce and it actually tastes pretty good. I have the orange flavored and it gives the applesauce a mild citrusy taste. I needed cholestramine after my second time in the hospital for a cholangitis attack. When I went through the ED my bilirubin was 3.0, and don't know what is was by the time my GI did my ERCP the next day when he placed a stent, that I get removed on the 17th of this month. Cholestramine was a godsend when I got out of the hospital and the itching was really bothering me. I tried all of the different antihistamines that I have and they didn't work Best wishes with your daughter, Beth B Thornton,CO " Live like this is your last day, Learn like you have forever " (goes something like this) from Ghandi > > >>>Has she tried cholesteramine for the itching? <<< >
