Guest guest
Val, you wouldn't recognize Livermore or the TriValley Corridor! Add gasoline, *poof* instant LA! That commute has gotten much worse, if you can imagine. and Livermore gets hot, Girl-Fren' ! Gosh, how'd you keep from fryin' your adrenals figuratively and literally? The Bark Station is a cute name for this area! --For those who don't live nearby our muni-rail is called BART (for Bay Area Rapid Transit). Man you're not kidding that's a monster commute, always was. Are you glad to be out of this nightmare-land? How does where you live, now, compare? My mom and dad live just South of Stoneridge Mall, Miss M and I, split our time between Berkeley and there. My folks are rickety and since I am, too, we just help each other with the alternative health stuff and the day to day of raising a brilliant - but not always easy- kiddo. In Berkeley we are not far from the Claremont Hotel. DH walks up there to the second (not the original) Peet's Coffee every morning. DH is a writer and he likes his quiet times, too. He is 11 yrs older, one day he called me his " trophy " wife LOL because I really look like his " atrophy " wife! Now when you come back you'll know where to find me! I'm a mess and so is my house, but all the bathrooms are clean and so's the kitchen. It got a little better 3-4 years ago, but I just sort of ran out of steam. I do have the only refridgerator on a cliff in the Western USA. .... Ah ! I lived very close to you about 3-4 years ago! Guest guest
Sorry , but I won;t ever be going back! I was miserable out there. My commute some days too 4 1/2 to 5 hours, but it was the only place I found to live with my pets that I could afford anywhere near my job, and I really couldn;t afford that! I was paying $700 a month for a room! Here I pay $375 a month for a 2 bedroom house! And I am making almost the same money, own my own business and I love the MUCH slower lifestyle here. People are more friendly and no one yells at me in my car about my smoking. I grew up in southern CA and the people used to be SO friendly, not they are just obnoxious, or so it seemed to me the last time I was there(present company excluded!). I almost did myself in with the stress while I lived out there, and I feel SO much better now. Nope have no desire to go back... Give me these pretty mountains any day and my 35 hour work week verses 75 due to travel. *Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV Fat cat? Diabetes? Guest guest
We live in Santa Barbara. The rude and stressed out are gone, so it's just overpriced. I love it here, though, and hubby grew up here. It's too beautiful to leave.
