Guest guest
Iodine is not good for people with Hashi's. The reason being is that Iodine stimulates the gland which in turn stimulates the antibodies to attack it further. What you might feel from it is MORE hypo and even swelling in the neck or fever like with any Hashi's attack. *Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV Fat cat? Diabetes? Guest guest
Hmm, interesting, thanks. I don't know if it's Hashi's yet or not. Maybe next week. That was part of yesterday's draw. Guest guest
if you have hashi stay away from iodine. You want to suppress your thyroid not stimulate iodine - reasons for bad response? Hi, folks, I'm aware that some people have good results when adding iodine to their diet and some have bad results. Does anyone know the whys of the bad results? I am considering trying it, mostly because I do not cook with salt and eat cleanly enough that I probably don't get a whole lot of dietarr iodine. What would a bad result feel like? What causes it? Thanks! Friday

That's the Hashi's?<< Could be or it could just be plain ole flu. It is serious flu season right now so keep in mind when you are adjusting dosages that you may feel bad with this in your area. I have to say with getting my meds up where I am CLOSE to optimized, I am SO much less prone to getting flus and bronchitis and pneumonia! There for the last few years before I went to self medicating when I was still on Synthroid, I was getting Bronchitis 3-5 times a year and Pneumonia once or twice a year and flus every one that came around I got! I have had the flu once in the last 2 years and have not had pneumonia or Bronchitis in over 5 years! I thought my lungs were permanently damaged from both smoking & my work breathing dog dander & hair all the time and all it was was hypo! *Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV Fat cat? Diabetes? Guest guest
Iodine can cause an auto-immune flare up. It can cause you to really loose energy. This is what it does to me. It just saps me. Shammon on thyroid.about.com has a similar reaction. Also, with me, it will cause soreness and swelling in my thyroid. This you don't want, as damage is being caused to the gland. If you have an auto- immune condition in which antibodies attack protiens that have iodine attached to them, then it will cause an auto-immune attack of whatever iodine protein combo the antibodies are sensitive to. It could be in the body or in the thyroid gland itself or both. Auto- immune thyroid disease has high rates of antibody sensitivity to iodine complexies in the thyroid and that is the most common source of attack. Some people are also allergic to iodine. Guest guest
Gheez I guess is right about me getting tested. I am on this board for my 20 yr old son with Autism that I suspect has thyroid issues. Reading below tho is like reading about myself. I never had sinus problems, migraines yes. 5 years ago I was at the dr every 2-3 months even thru the winter with sinus problems until they put me on Allergy medications. This past October I got Bronchitus which really knocked me on my rear. It took forever to get over, but I still have a constant loose cough in my throat that just wont go away.
