I was diagnosed with mono in 4th grade --27 years ago --(although, I didn't

feel as bad as I thought I should so doubted that I had mono--thought it was

just another sore throat. I had the EBV titer 12 years ago....which showed

that I had mono at some point...I do think i've felt tired for 27 years, my

mother always commented on how tired I was (as a child) and quite possibly

DID acquire FMS/CFS at that time, as i've not had any accidents or trauma in

my life. When I was younger (10-19) I don't think I noticed it (or minded

it as much)- or else my body coped with it better than it does now, as I

feel my FMS/CFS keep getting a little worse every year, the flares seem to

last longer, come more frequently and hit me harder...

I tried the guaifenesin therapy in 1990, for about 9 months...my stomach

felt like it would explode every time I took it--I would get bloated beyond

belief.....I believe that this treatment 'caused' my IBS - as I never had

problems before...but sure do now. When I stopped the guaifenesin, I still

got bloated....The guaifenesin program sounded promising...but i'll never

try it again, whenever i've taken it since, the bloating has come right back

with a vengence.
