Although it is a herpes virus that causes these, it's my opinion that the virus may never have got a hold if her immune system wasn't dysfunctional. Nevertheless, she had the virus and would have an outbreak at the most inopportune times - like when she was going on a trip...which was probably stress related. She really hated it. But there is some medication available for this now I think. to control outbreaks. If this becomes a recurring problem for you, you might want to check that out. Or it may improve with Armour. Guest guest
Jeanne, you're not supplementing with Arginine by any chance are you or eating foods rich in it? (Peanuts, cashews, walnuts, green veggies, garlic and ginseng) It can cause cold sores to errupt, so even if you're taking the lysine you could be eating more arginine than you're aware of?? Guest guest
Parents on the biomed lists who deal with this regularly report success with daily to 3x daily OLE (Olive leaf extract). Lauricidin (in coconut fat/oil) is also antibiotic/antibacterial. Elderberry extract (it comes with zinc, too.) Zicam homeopathic nasal swabs (sound gross - works great for us) for colds/flu work well to prevent viruses from replicating. Good digestive enzymes help us and many others. I know there are many more natural antivirals but these spring to mind. Another thing that helps is probiotics. Enzymatic Therapy makes Acidophilus Pearls and there are many other good probiotics to take orally that also help skin conditions like sores and eczema...Of course there are the pharmaceutical antivirals that could help. I understand gentle sun exposure helps while too much sun can cause them. This is just my guess, but I wonder if eventually the optimal Armour dose would prevent this in susceptible folks? You sound miserable. I'm really sorry. .... nasty cold sores OK--I realize that my immune system is compromised....but have any of you had problems with chronic fever blisters..aka cold sores....I have NEVER been one to get these buggers very often(maybe one in 3 or 4 years)---but this winter I have not been free of them....I know this is disgusting but,I have these things in my nose for nearly 3 months now....and then 5 days ago...I got the biggest one I have ever gotten on my lower lip....I seriously cannot go to work this week because of it....I have taken echinacea, and lysine as well....anyone else with this nasty problem.----also I have been on 4 grains now for 2 weeks....no hyper symptoms...but still feeling like crap a lot of the time...should I try another increase??--I know I saw that a couple of you are on this much...or a little more....I was really hoping I would be one of the normal 3 grainers....lol---but so far not happening....jeanne

Guest guest
Jeanne, I think you have something else going on. Your immune system sounds like it's really damaged...I wouldn't raise your Armour, since you just did. Does anyone here know what can strengthen one's immune system? I wonder if the hypo is secondary to what's going on? Laurie nasty cold sores OK--I realize that my immune system is compromised....but have any of you had problems with chronic fever blisters..aka cold sores....I have NEVER been one to get these buggers very often(maybe one in 3 or 4 years)---but this winter I have not been free of them....I know this is disgusting but,I have these things in my nose for nearly 3 months now....and then 5 days ago...I got the biggest one I have ever gotten on my lower lip....I seriously cannot go to work this week because of it....I have taken echinacea, and lysine as well....anyone else with this nasty problem.----also I have been on 4 grains now for 2 weeks....no hyper symptoms...but still feeling like crap a lot of the time...should I try another increase??--I know I saw that a couple of you are on this much...or a little more....I was really hoping I would be one of the normal 3 grainers....lol---but so far not happening....jeanne
