Some people seem to continue to spiral downhill despite what the doctors say, and some people seem to stay at the same level. Don't forget, you tend to see people who can be a little worse on support groups, although not every one is. I have a friend with fibro, and she hasn't gotten worse, she still works a 40+ hour job, and doesn't do support groups. I, on the other hand, don't think of my fibro as bad because my pain isn't to the level of a lot of people on this group, but it's bad enough I had to quit my job, and am basically housebound most of the time. So no one can say exactly what will or won't happen to you. Darcy

I am not a doctor but I think that fibro does get progressive. When I first started having symptoms and then when I first got it, I could still much of what I always did but now I find that there are many things that I can't do, although I still try at times. I agree with you that getting older seems to make it worse. It could be a combination of the problems of getting older and the fibro. I don't know the answer but I am worse and I feel that the fibro is getting more and more painful as time goes on. > > Take care, Irene Books may well be the only true magic Alice Hoffman

Guest guest
Irene and Darcy, Thank you for your reply. I agree that it DOES seem to get worse with age. My sister suffers from it worse than I and she is 6 years older than me. She wasn't nearly this bad even 3 years ago! I can't hardly believe the decline. That's one of the things that make me think that it does progress. I am glad to know that some do not experience that. It gives me hope that maybe my condition will stabililze soon. When its rainy out I ALWAYS feel worse...and winter time is the horrible for me as I have Rheynauds as well...so winter is like living in a frozen hell so to speak. So I guess if you feel similar to me my advice would be....don't get stressed and live in Jamacia in the winter time...lmaooo Allicia

I told her my allergies would just follow, and my fibro doesn't like cold weather, so I'm basically out of luck no matter where I'd try to move. So I'm staying here!
