Guest guest
I have had bigger jumps than that. They are looking at over all trends. Mine are all higher than that consistently and have been since dx in '01. If your doctor isn't worried, I wouldn't be. Actually, I don't fuss over it much anyway. But that is me. It's just when something totally unexpected comes us that I am thrown for a loop. Guest guest
Dawn, If your Hepatologist gets copies of the results, I would call his office to make sure the doctor has reviewed them. I had a really good GI doctor who always called after labs to let me know what he thought of the results – good or bad. While everyone is different, when my numbers got this high I knew it because I felt sluggish. Of course, my bili was always up when the other were too, so that may have been the reason. I don’t think there at an extreme level yet, but the trend is going in the wrong direction and that is what they look at more than the numbers themselves. I really think that the Hepatologist needs to be involved sooner than a few weeks. Guest guest
Hi Dawn, My husband's numbers are similar: ALP 538, AST 98 and ALT 220. We are new to all this and don't know if this is "normal" for my husband or if he's on an upward trend. He is having his first MRCP next Wednesday, and if the hep says anything meaningful about the high numbers, I will pass the info along to you. Hope you are feeling well, in spite of the spike in numbers. Your friend in elevated enzymes, Alison B. Guest guest
I had a pretty good jump in my labs in January, but all my GI had me do was recheck my labs at 2 weeks instead at the month mark like I was supposed to. He had me take more cholestramine (sp), I now take it 2 times a day instead of just once. I was also itching pretty bad at the time so he put me on Atarax (sp) until the itching calmed down. I had the labs drawn on 2/16 and haven't heard anything from my GI so I figure that they must be okay. I am having my labs done once a month to keep on top of things for now, because I started nursing school in January. My GI wants to keep on top of things to try to catch things early, so I don't have the issues that I had last year with cholangitis while I am in school. We have also discussed doing an ERCP every 6 months when I am on break, because I don't seem to get stones, just build up some pretty good slug. Like others have said try to keep a record of your results, so you can see the trends the doctors will be looking at.. Guest guest
Mine have always fluctuated some but have never risen this much or this steadily. I figure I am progressing. Since I have small duct PSC I have been progressing slowly but this lasy year I have become much more symptomatic. My June biopsy said stage 1-2 and my levels were much lower. I was just trying to get a feel for wwhat some of your LFt's were so that I had a clue how high mine really all, so thank you all for the feedback.
