Guest guest
Val, I had a VERY bad reaction to Cipro 3 years ago, my joints swelled, ached, along with an assortment of other terrible problems. I will never take that antibiotic again. It took about 3 weeks for my joints to settle back down and even now I wonder if some of the problems I have now and then are from that time. I took Cipro's cousin, and I am sorry, can't remember the name, but it gave me a minor issue of joint pain. ugh. I have no idea why, as I do usually react bad to any meds. But with Cipro, it as bad news for me. I thought it might be the flu but I have a friend with that and that is NOT what I had. I just had abscessed teeth again. I say " just " LOL yeah right... Kicked my butt in the dirt one more time. BTW I will never knock Cipro again. Though it is not my choice of antibiotic, it was here and I needed something. It sure kicked this infection right out. BUT I am now creaking in joints I have not creaked in over 4 years! Now I am wondering if this is returning hypo due to the illness or from the Cipro? Guest guest
I am still running a fever of 99.9, just checked it but I feel SO much better than I did. But I haven't had the cracking joints in a long time. I noticed as I stepped over the puppy gate my hip just crunched and when I try to eat my jaw is cracking and both those things had been gone for several years. Of course I am not eating much either. Soup and macaroni is about all I can eat, maybe I will try some flavored rice tonight. I had some cephalexin (Keflex) ordered but I ordered it over a week ago and still no word. Usually it is here in 2 days from my pet supplier, LOL. *Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV Old aunts used to come up to me at weddings, poking me in the ribs and cackling, telling me, " You're next. Guest guest
Yikes...below are a couple of paragraphs from this website. No wonder I have had tendonitis problems since using this drug. I actually fired my family doctor after many years, when, during using Cipro that she prescribed, told me to use an antiflammatory drug, and the insert tells you specifically NOT to use them. http://www.westonaprice.org/healthissues/cipro.html Just as in the case of Baycol and other fluorinated drugs, Cipro can cause musculo-skeletal disorders such as rhabdomyolysis. Since the introduction of fluoroquinolones on the market in 1987, more than 200 cases of rhabdomyolysis, tendinitis, tendon rupture, etc. have been reported in the literature.4,13,14,15 In 1996, the FDA also issued directives to manufacturers to include warning statements on all fluoroquinoline product inserts to alert patients and caregivers to the potential for tendinitis and tendon rupture.17 In the same year, the Sri Lanka Drug Evaluation Sub-Committee decided that the product information sheet on fluoroquinolone antibiotics should include the following warning: “The onset of tendon pain calls for immediate withdrawal of fluoroquinolone antibiotics.”18 nc2406@... wrote:In a message dated 3/9/2005 5:25:50 PM Eastern Standard Time, klb58@... writes: > I had a VERY bad reaction to Cipro 3 years ago, my joints swelled, ached, > along with an assortment of other terrible problems HEY - isn't that a flourinated drug - I've heard some bad things about that one... do a search " cipro + flouride " . cindi
Guest guest
Well they are about gone, one more dosage and if that doesn't kick this infection I am going to be heading to the ER to get something else anyway. *Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV Old aunts used to come up to me at weddings, poking me in the ribs and cackling, telling me, " You're next. Guest guest
Well one thing I have always said, do as I say not as I do... I am NOT going to the ER tonight. It is cold and nasty outside and a LONG drive there. I am going in to work tomorrow and I work less than 5 miles from the hospital. If I feel I still need antibiotics tomorrow I will stop there before coming home. *Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV Old aunts used to come up to me at weddings, poking me in the ribs and cackling, telling me, " You're next. Guest guest
>Soup and macaroni is about all I can eat, maybe I will try some flavored rice tonight. Small world. I ate nothing Monday due to the flu virus from hell. Tuesday, I had watered down orange juice and some rice last night. Today, I couldn't seem to want ANYTHING......until I remembered that my husband left chicken broth for me in the refrig. I stirred in some rice--heated it up--voila. Now that hit the spot. Anything else repulses me. Janie

Guest guest
Can ONE time use of Cipro cause tendonitis?? I'm being lazy and haven't looked at the link.
