Congratulations Marie!! I know that is an important accomplishment and a big

worry off of your mind!!

I have been out of work now since Jan and so many people have encouraged me to

apply for SSD. Do you have any suggestions that you can share about your

experience in this process? I am almost three years post tx and was dx in

November 08 with rPSC and UC. Between the two, work is so tiring for me, and my

last biopsy showed portal fibrosis with focal bridging and bile duct

proliferation, (not sure what that is). My concern is now that I am on Urso my

labs do not look as bad. I have worked continuous for the past 29 years but now

with the rPSC I have no desire to try and work through this again.

Any info you can share will be greatly appreciated.

I am so happy for you!!

Marie was that including the 6 month waiting period? A person has to be disabled 6 months before getting disability checks, but it can be back-dated. Did you have to fight for your rights?

I'm not quite sure yet. I think it starts from 9/2008, when I stopped working altogether. My first check will be next month. So probably the 6 month waiting period applies. Fortunately I also have private long term disability insurance.Marie

My understanding is that if you have to use a

lawyer to get SSDI, they take a percentage of

your back payment as a fee. They should know

how to work the system better if you need to

go that route.

I'm still feeling the fatigue and nausea. But I usually manage to do more than just sleep or rest. I've taken up knitting, which is restful, but I still accomplish something, so that's a good thing. Marie
