Guest guest
Are you near Mayo's, ville? I had the very same experience with my husband years ago and we all felt Bob was going downhill fast with the dr. ,treatment, and hosp. I suggested to the pc dr that I needed an orchestra leader to help with orchestrating tests, treatments, care, diagnosis, prognosis, etc. Did he want the job and how could I best facilitate his immediate action? He said he wanted the job but could not make the nurses, labs and procedures work on the weekends or any faster during the week unless it was critical. I suggested Mayo, Rochester and he said if I insisted. I did, we took Bob home washed , rinsed and dryed him and left the next morning with all the tests results I could get. Come to find out you do not need records/tests, Mayo likes to do their own and do not need an appointment. We went directly to the ER at St. 's, were examined by their residents and admitted. Within two to three hours we were in a room and seen by every dept. you can imagine, assigned a dr. to oversee and gather all tests, garner experts puzzle pieces and put the pieces together. There was one nurse for every 4 patients who sat at computers outside patients doors, a resident for every 10-15 patients, printout of every med and test Bob was given in a very timely manner. As you can tell I was very impressed and Very Very happy that I had insisted on the trip. Now the bad part: The hosp. rooms were not the most comfortable and the food icky pooh. Since then we have been back and the accomodations are by far improved. They even had a starbucks right across the street from clinic and Hosp. Just a thought hope all works out for you and your husband gets the service he deserves. Like Arne says Remember you are the Customer. Another mantra: Whatever it Takes. You go girlfriend. My daughters name is and her husband's is Tony, You have my full attention with those names. dee wife to bob, illeo 60's, psc 1999, and a miriad of other bumps in the road > The surgeon told me > he could not believe his GI didn't admitt him to the hospital. Guest guest
Thank you so much Dee! I remember you now. We talked years ago. I used to have lots of time to spend with the support group years ago when we lived in CT and I was home raising the kids. Now we live in Florida and I work full time and chase the kids around and fighting with dealing with my multiple scleroses it doesn't leave much time for anything else. I think of all of you often and keep everyone inmy prayers. I have a name of a Dr in ville a Mayo. It's about a 3 hour Dr from my house but after what we went through it will be worth the drive. If I don't think we will make it till the appointment and things dont get better we will take the drive to the ER. I will keep you posted. Thanks again.
