I have never been to it. However the Mayo Clinic is supposed to be the best in the US for this (I have to reoterate that this is only hearsaySent via BlackBerry by AT&TDate: Sat, 29 Nov 2008 21:22:54 -0000To: < >Subject: NY NJ doctors? Help Hello all, thank god for this forum. My 29 year old boyfriend, was diagnosed with PSC this past week. PSC with a large lesion on the liver causing compression of the bile ducts. We are Americans living in France. We are flying home this next week to begin to seek treatments and second opinions. We have been completely blindsided by this illness (as I am sure all of you were). We are looking for help so that we can hit the ground running, literally. For those of you well informed of PSC, liver complications, and who live in the NJ/NY area, do you have suggestions of doctors to perform the stint procedure, and also liver specialists to deal with a large liver lesion (pathology of which is on its way) I know this is really a very small amount of info, but any advice of doctors in that area would be much appreciated. Thank you so very much, saracitaconnell

Welcome to the group and I hope you will get the information you need here.My son saw an expert at the Mayo in Rochester MI. but he is followed in New York by a Dr. Ira son for blood work and MRI'severy 6 months. I can't help you with the stint part of it so hopefully someone else will chime in.Dr son's number is . He is with New York Hospital. If you are coming to the states just for a second opinion and you can travel, then I would head out to Mayo, plan to stay a week and get the complete work-up.Once you decide you can ask more specific questions here about particular doctors where you are going.Best wishes for your safe travel,LeeHello all, thank god for this forum. Welcome, we are sorry about your boyfriend's diagnosis, but we are glad you found us. I personally can recommend any doctors in the NY area because I live on the other side of the continent, but I can offer you encouragement, I was first diagnosed with PSC and had the bile ducts outside the liver when I was 33. That was 19 years ago. Although PSC progresses differently in all of us they are continuously making advances. Our prayers and well wishes are with you and your boyfriend.

If you are willing to travel to Philadelphia, my son sees Dr. Makar at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. We have been very pleased with the care he has received there. When we were looking for a new Dr. the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania was highly recommended.

Good Luck!
