Guest guest
I can't easily find a picture of the thyroxine-sodium molecule. But, human thyroxine (T4) looks like this: http://www.chemistry.org/portal/a/c/s/1/acsdisplay.html? DOC=HomeMolecule%5Carchive%5Cmotw_thyroxine_arch.html Synthroid is exactly like this, but there is a sodium molecule attached somewhere on it. I'm thinking it is probably a covalent bond, which would be weak and would detach easily in water or other medium, like blood. If I find a picture, I will post the link. I think that this sodium makes it a little less absorbable than the real thing as it changes it's electrical charge slightly. It was this sodium which allowed the manufacturer to get the patent. So, yes it's exactly the same, but not quite. The US government would consider this exactly the same by their definition which would allow such minor alterations. This is why genetically engieered foods are considered safe by the FDA. Tish
Guest guest
Val, it sounds like you were dealing with conversion issues - 100% T4, natural or synthetic wouldnt have worked for you. It's also likely that in your case, as in many, the T2 in Armour was necesary - it's not 'inactive' like a lot of doctors like to tell us it is. This is not the same as saying synthetic T4 is not bioidentical. It's comparing apples and oranges. I am glad you've found a combo that works for you - that's the whole point, right ? > Well I haven't read all that article, just no concentration for long articles any more. But I Do know that on 1600 MCG a DAY of Synthroid I felt like I was taking sugar pills so it obviously isn;t bioidentical to what I need, LOL. Straight T3 doesn;t work for me either, I just go form sleeping constantly to shaky and irritable, with little in between. The Combo of Armour & Cytomel has worked a miracle for me but there is 25 years of damage to my body from being on Synthroid alone to repair. I was dying on Synthroid from low thyroid. Literally dying. I cannot recommend it to anyone as if that is bioidentical, I can't recommend bioidentical in thyroid hormones. > > Artistic Grooming > Hurricane, West Virginia > >
