Guest guest
- and yet, I'd be willing to bet you'd do it in a heartbeat for them. If the roles were reversed, think about how you'd feel about it. I don't really have a strong opinon either way, but, but if I put myself in their shoes... Arne ....At the moment i'm feeling pretty much against getting a portion of one of their livers, as i'm scared something might happen to one of them because of me and them having to go through a procedure that they don't have to!.. Guest guest
I agree with Arne. I would be hurt and maybe a little mad if I could help someone I love and they wouldn't let me. ee > > - and yet, I'd be willing to bet you'd do it in a heartbeat for them. Guest guest
ChrisI understand your concern. In the big picture I'm sure they would rather you be healthy than not. (Also question about live liver tx) Well, as you can probably guess, i've been stuck ont he transplant list! All seems to have gone a bit quicker than i imagined, was only diagnosed 2 years ago this month! Just a tiny bit worried and scared now (if you class quivering in my boots as a tiny bit scared! haha!), but i know it's the right decision and i've got a lot of faith in the liver unit that's looking after me (St. ' hosp in Leeds, En-ger-land). They come across as an extremely knowledgable, tight-knit group, and all the staff from cleaners up to big boss doctor folk are nice and friendly! Now the waiting begins! The docs have decided that i'm suitable for a live liver transplant, and at least 1 of my brothers and my mum are getting assessed to see if they're suitable to donate to me. Has anyone on here had a liver donated from a friend or family? At the moment i'm feeling pretty much against getting a portion of one of their livers, as i'm scared something might happen to one of them because of me and them having to go through a procedure that they don't have to! Hmm..
Guest guest
That's a very good point, aye, they could have whatever they want from me if it'd help them. Wouldn't even have to think about it. > > - and yet, I'd be willing to bet you'd do it in a heartbeat for them. > If the roles were reversed, think about how you'd feel about it. Guest guest
Allowing another person to do a good thing is giving a gift to them. It is a bit of reverse thinking. We are encouraged to be charitable and kind and that makes us feel good, we don't often think of being the recipient of another's generosity as a positive step. (It is okay as long as we don't abuse the privilege.) Take Care MizKit Re: Hello Mr Transplant List, my name's Chris! (Also question about live liver tx) I agree with Arne. Guest guest
At the moment i'm feeling pretty much against getting a portion of one > of their livers, as i'm scared something might happen to one of them > because of me and them having to go through a procedure that they don't > have to! > First of all congrats on being listed, and secondly, praise God that you have family and friends willing to give you the gift of life!! I too worried about allowing my family to help me but after my health started failing faster they took over and insisted. My brother Rod was tested and his liver was not proportioned correctly so he was disqualified and then his wife wanted to get tested. I also had an older brother get tested. Of the three, my SISTER N LAW was the perfect match. I was still so worried about something happening to her and my brother being at risk of loosing his wife and his sister. She was determined to help me get my life back and as another member stated it was a blessing to her to be the person to help me. You have to trust God, pray and believe that he is going to see you and your family member or friend through it all. My sister n law now is healthy and doing great she had no problems at all. Our relationship has always been great but you can imagine now how it is, she is my true sister!! What greater gift can one receive than that of a friend or family member that would lay down their life for you! Allow them to be a blessing to you and your life will be a blessing to them.
