Guest guest
Deanna I am so sorry sweetie that you are going through this I wish there is something I could do for you. Like take some of your sickness away from you so you can start feeling better again. You will and always are in my prayers. I am thinking of you. Love Kimi Hi everyone, I am the bearer of bad news yet again!!!!! Well if you have kept up with my never-ending saga you will know that I have been dealing with voice issues the last month – month in a half. Well the past few days I did rarely any talking and noticed my voice only getting worse – so I called pcp yesterday and said I was going to call and make an appointment with the ear, nose, and throat dr. PCP agreed with me and said keep him informed. So I called an made an appointment yesterday for today. I go in and he stuck that thing up your nose to look into your throat, larynx, vocal cords, etc. He said I had an extreme amount of inflammation on both vocal cords and that on the right one I had a huge nodule. He said “Oh you definitely need surgery†so he tells me that before surgery he has to do the same procedure just a little more advanced using a video camera and such. So we go out to make an appointment because usually the PA does this procedure and then he comes in at the end of it and checks it – well she is booked up until the end of August. He looks at the receptionist and says “NO WAY she needs this done as of yesterday†So he made the decision to come in after his surgery appointments next Thursday to do the procedure himself on me – he says he does not like the look of the nodule let alone how inflamed everything was – that this has to be taken care of immediately or I could lose my voice permanently. OMG!!!! Now of course I am stressing and then he tells me BTW you need to not use your voice or clear your throat because it only makes things worse. HELLOOOOO I don’t talk much as it is now because it is such a strain to try to get any words out as it is but the little talking I do do is to keep in contact with Mike via the cell phone – there is NO WAY I can stop communications with Mike during the week – and he says after surgery I will literally not be able to talk for a minimum of at least 3 days and then he said it will take up to a full 6 months before I can start using my voice at 75% (I don’t understand that one at all) – Guess I’m going to have to quit smoking after all L it was the only thing that was keeping me somewhat sane with this damn disease…. Well that is the latest to this never-ending saga – will touch base with you all tomorrow hopefully… Hugs, Deanna

Guest guest
Deanna - You certainly do lead an interesting life, don't you? Vocal nodules are not unusual in opera singers, public speakers and the like. Remember a few years ago when s was "incommunicado" and ended up suing a doctor because she lost her singing voice? Vocal nodules were the cause of her problems. And yes, quitting smoking would be an excellent idea!
