Guest guest
As you can see in the below quotation of the article the statement related to restoring normal life expectancy was related to treatment of PBC, not PSC. It was certainly a hope that the same effect would be observed in PSC but it appears from this study the opposite was the case. " The rationale for using UDCA has come in part from the drug's effectiveness in primary biliary cirrhosis. UDCA at a dose of 13 to 15 mg/kg/day slows the development of cirrhosis and varices and may restore normal life expectancy in patients who respond to the agent, said Dr. Lindor. " in Seattle > > -----Original Message----- > I'm ever the optimimist, at one point on this release it actually says > that urso can " restore normal life expectancy " > Is this true? Are there documented cases of it combatting cirhossis that > well??? > > Hi , > You're right, it did say that, but..... you have to read the next > sentence too, it said " To confirm the benefits observed in small > uncontrolled studies " they weren't able to confirm that conclusion in > the larger Dr. Lindor study. > > Sorry, > > Barb in Texas - Together in the Fight - Whatever it Takes! > Son Ken (34) UC 91 PSC 99, LTX 6/21 & 6/30 2007 @ Baylor/Dallas >
