I think Ambien is generally accepted at the top sleeping pill, but I don't know that is an absolute fact. Have you tried the natural route like Valerian root or Meletonian? Guest guest Posted August 19, 2002 Report Share Posted August 19, 2002 Klonopin (I think that's the " brand " name of the Clonzepam mentioned below) worked very VERY well for me. However, it is NOT a sleeping pill. Perhaps that's what your doctor meant in terms of Ambien being the strongest medicine available, because that's what it is specifically for - sleeping. I have found that other medications work well in combination. For instance I took Klonopin and Neurotin together and they certainly did the trick. I can no longer take Klonopin and relying on just the Neurontin has been not been as successful for me although I will admit my dosage may need adjusting.
