TO MM / FALLING APART Dear MM, It's good to know that we are not alone in our falling apart at work......I also fell apart more than once. But this was the BIG ONE.....when I knew I could not hold it together anymore. The first time was when I was working for Xerox Corp. at their ' Fefurbishing Center' where we rebuilt old copy machines. It was like a big warehouse, My co-workers knew I was 'Hyper - Vigilent' .....meaning I startled easily, they thought it was SO FUNNY to make me jump out of my skin , by walking by my station and either kick the Big Metal trash can or drop a metal plate behind me. I usually just laughed along with them after I scraped myself off the ceiling.....But one day one of the guys, kicked my trashcan, and before I knew it I went after him with a hammer!!......And he was one of my best friends! That time I agreed to committ myself to a psychiatric hospital .....and wound up having Electric Shock Treatments ......I had my Uniion behind me and good benefits ......So after I was deemed safe to return to Society.......I got my same job back! That was in 1978, I then was able to chug along pretending to be ' Sane' till 1994 when I lost it for the last time ......I could no longer pretend!
