Guest guest
MONDAY, APRIL 6, 2009 4:12 PM, CDT Clinic went very well today! Chris's numbers are MUCH better. His INR (blood clotting factor) was down to 1.5. 1.4 is normal! His alkaline phosphate was a little high still. I'm not really sure what that means except that it's one of the liver numbers. Dr. Friddell ordered an ERCP with a stint that is supposed to be scheduled for this week. They all seemed happy with his progress today, so much in fact that we graduated to going to clinic once a week rather than 2! Whoo hoo! He even walked around the hospital rather than having me push him in the wheelchair. And after talking to many people I have come to the conclusion that I'm going to have to go the " tough love " route. Up to this point I've pretty much done everything for him. He NEEDS (and I need him) to get OUT of the recliner and start doing more things for himself. At this point his main issues seem to be the elevated alk phos and the ascities. The docs say the ascities will eventually go away. It makes really uncomfortable but it's getting better.
Guest guest
Great news. I think that exercise might help the ascities too – that and reduced salt intake. The elevated Alk Phos indicates reduced bile drainage. The stent should fix that problem and hopefully that will be the end of the bumps.
