Guest guest
I am 22 years old. I have had this since I was about 16 yrs old., but wasn't diagnosed til I was 20. Doctors say that its not a progressive disease, but I have heard many many people agree that it does get worse as you get older, but there is and always will be alot of controversy on Fibro. Thats another bad point...what works for one...doesn't work for another...there isn't a solid method of treating this horrid disease unfortunately. Yes it is very irrating when one day you can almost run around the block (ok maybe I'm exaggerating) and the next day you can't even tie your shoes because your fingers are kill'n you. As far as the diet changes go...The only thing that I have really done...which I need to do more...is cut out all caffeine, sugar, and almost all red meats. everyonce in awhile I will cheat, but not very often. If I drink one pop I can feel it within 20 min. of drinking it. Mick is the woman to talk to about the dieting...she has had alot of luck with a vegan diet. My parents have done that and have had alot of luck as well. It is expensive, but worth the $$ if you have it. Well I'm gonna try to hit the bed....I hope this helps you....If you ever need to talk Drop me a line...I'm online alot ....lots of *gentle* hugzz Allicia

Guest guest
Hello , I am so sorry for all that you have endured because of these dreaded illnesses, but one thing about it, you have come to the right place for support! In addition to FMS I was also diagnosed with CFS, IBS, TMJ, hypoglycemia and eventually liver and kidneys failing. When I was 29 I was diagnosed with Endometriosis but after a complete hysterectomy I have had no symptoms of it. I removed all caffeine from my diet except I do have 1 1/2 cups of coffee each morning. I am a smoker and have tried numerous times to quit, but failed. I absolutely do not drink any pop at all.....ever. And for the most part I am a vegan and since starting the diet change have been symptom free from all that I was diagnosed with for over 5 months now. Before the diet change I had been pretty much bedridden for 4 years. Now I have more energy and more strength than anyone in my family. They even get colds etc, but not me!!! Woo Hoo!! What a rush that is!! Peace and blessings to you always, Mick reds_henry reds_henry@...> wrote: -Hi, another question, how many of you have other disorders/diseases as well as fibromyalgia? Guest guest
Dear , I had been diagnosed with FMS/CFS almost 6 years ago. Many people talk of going for weeks without the symptoms. This never happened for me....I never got a reprieve. Docs will tell you that it is not progressive and it is not degenerative. That is complete BS. For me it did progress. Eventually I was also diagnosed with TMJ/IBS and hypoglycemia. And from all the different synthetic drugs I was on over the years.....my liver and kidneys began to fail. It that is not degenerative and progressive I don't know what is. I am 6' tall and I weighed 115 lbs when I started my lifestyle changes 7 months ago. I am vegan (for the most part) and now I weigh 128 lbs. reds_henry reds_henry@...> wrote: -How old are you? Can I expect this to get worse as I get older? What irritates me most about this disorder is for a week or so I will feel great and like I am really living and then it will hit me for a few weeks and puts me back. I wish I could figure out what makes the symptoms lessen and what triggers it back. Guest guest
I expect this to get worse as I get older? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- , Hi, I waited to post thinking that others more " qualified " would respond. Anyway, the only answer I can give you is one from my own perspective. The same things that work for one person may or may not work for you. You kind of have to try them and see which works best for you. I am 40 with an 11 & 5 year old. I work part time now. (I used to work full time, what a nightmare!) I also feel like someone has beat me up when I arise in the morning. I have found that a tricyclic antidepressant like Effexor XR 150mg per day, works for me. However, I do have my bad days also. I must pace myself where any physical work is concerned. My husband and children help me out around the house. I understand you being concerned about becoming addicted to Xanax. I also take that as needed. I have been using it since 1998 and have not become addicted in the least. Believe me, I could really take advantage too. I have so many other narcotics. But have had no problems. So my take on it would be that if you gain some benefit from taking it, by all means do. Stress is one of the biggest contributors of the pain cycle. If you are able to reduce your stress level by taking an occasional Xanax, I say go for it! I hope this helps in some small way. Again, I'm no expert. I can only give you advice from my own viewpont. If you would like to talk one on one anytime, e-mail me privately at genoa816@.... Take care....

Guest guest
Oh ...Don't discredit yourself! You did just fine! It is said that fibro is not a progressive disease. Unfortunately, it is my opinion that as we get older, our bodies naturally get progressivly more wear/tear on them, thus causing more pain...fibro or not.
