Guest guest
Hi, all! I know marijuana is illegal, but I did have a doctor ask me/advise me to try it. To be honest, I'm not sure if he intended it to be in " pill " form or not since he said it might be cheaper to find it on my own. In any case, the way he explained it/advised it is that marijuana could help stimulate my appetite (I'm down to 97 pounds since getting PSC) and help to relieve a lot of the pain I'm in. He strongly encouraged me to think about it and get back to him. I'm not really a drugs kind of girl (ironic, I know, considering I take 50+ pills a day), so I haven't done anything about it, but I thought I'd share that it was recommended by a doctor as a course of treatment so it may be worth leaving it on the question list. That's my two cents for what they're worth! Sandi in VA
Guest guest
-----Original Message----- but I did have a doctor ask me/advise me to try it. There were a lot of articles on the use of medical marijuana at the time of this man’s death. Here is just one…. Patient Denied Liver Transplant Due to Medical Marijuana Use The University of Washington Medical Center denied 56-year-old Garon’s request for a transplant because he used medical marijuana for the relief of symptoms of hepatitis C. The man, whose disease has brought him in the worst shape ever (his body is skeleton-like and his abdomen is swollen as if he were eight months pregnant), simply can’t understand why he was denied a place on the transplant waiting list. Under federal law, marijuana is illegal. Some hospitals automatically reject people who use “illicit substances” even if the states allow it. Others, instead give patients a chance to reapply for a transplant if they stay clean for six months. Garon, was prescribed marijuana for nausea, abdominal pain and to stimulate his appetite by Seattle physician, Dr. Brad Roter who said he had no idea it would turn against his patient in case he needed a transplant. According to pro-marijuana groups, there were several cases of such patients who were denied transplant because they used medical marijuana. http://www.efluxmedia.com/news_Patient_Denied_Liver_Transplant_Due_to_Medical_Marijuana_Use_16913.html Barb in Texas - Together in the Fight - Whatever it Takes!
