Guest guest
Bettyann I was at a meeting of the Israeli liver health foundation, and a hepatologist there said that " synthetic " fabrics and wool should be avoided when you are suffering from pruritis. Just to add to Marie's very good list, I also have certain fabrics when wearing make me itch more, especially nylon or wool blends, cotton is usually the best for me, I also take rifampin and tan and it keeps most of the itching in check...ask your doc if the list fails to help. Best of luck. Bettyann (SC)

Guest guest
Yeah, there are varying degrees of itchiness. Acceptable, annoying, distracting, maddening, obsessive and suicidal. Not one thing works for everybody. For some it is medication, Rifampin, hydroxyzine, Questran, Zoloft, Zofran, Allegra, Benadryl, Naltrexone.....for some, Sarna Cream, Diab-eze (works really well, but is expensive), anything with mentol takes your mind off the itching, cool baths, loose clothing, uv B light....a good back scratching (I personally use toothbrushes so I don't tear and rip the skin. I even tried this electronic device that is supposed to send electrons into the skin...it feels warm to the touch and it actually stops the itching in that spot, but because it is only 1 inch in diameter, by the time you have zapped everything you have to start over again.
