QUESTION ANYONE ??

Hello everyone,

I have a question if anyone could answer me it would be greatly appreciated. I have a co-worker whose future mother in law has lupus. A couple of weeks ago she was not feeling well and went to the Dr. and later called her and to her to get right to the hospital for a blood transfusion as her platelet count was down to 25,000. She did and when she and her boyfriend (lady's son) got there they were shocked at the bruises that the woman had. I tried to explain to what was happening and that it is a lupus related problem. Well Miss know it all that she is (refuses to accept the fact that the woman has lupus) said no that it was her seizure medicine. Well a couple of days later she was transferred by air ambulance to the hospital in Albany --her bone marrow is not producing and hence was place in isolation.-And now after 26 transfusions they are telling her that there is nothing more they can do for her other than a bone marrow transplant.--Well over the weekend (yesterday) as a matter of fact, the Dr. told her husband and family that she is at the end stages of Lupus and that there is nothing else that they can do for her. is now upset that she did not listen to me a long time ago when she was telling the group the problems the woman was experiencing. No it it not Lupus related and if she would get out in the sun she would feel better. I tried numerous times to tell her that the sun is a lupus patients worse enemy. She just would ignore me and tell me that all her problems were from her seizures which she has not had any in about 4 months and the brain cancer that she had surgery for a few years ago and is totally in remission.

Now today she feels bad because the woman is very ill and they are afraid that she is not going to make it for their wedding on 9-11. She is only 43 years old and today I told her lupus has no age limits and no considerations for the person itself. The ugly wolf is going to show his head whenever he wants to.

The bad part of all of this is that she swore as well as her husband that this lady did not need the drugs that she was on and they put her in the hospital for rehab to get her off of all the meds that she was on. I told then that they were making a mistake and that if she did not need the meds then the Dr. would not have prescribed them for her.

When I told her that there are certain meds that a person needs in order to be relatively able to live comfortably she just snubbed her nose at me.

Now she is today believing all of what I have been telling her. Then today she tells me that this woman has had Lupus for the past 15 years. I told her so have I that I was tested in 89,91 and then again in 2000 and that is when the ANA came back positive.Then she proceeds to tell me that all of her sisters have all kinds of health problems--mostly all have some type of auto immune diseases.

I do not know this lady but feel that I do because of all the mouth that this little snip know it all has had to say about her. Then today she has the nerve to say that she does love the woman after all the bad things she has had to say about her over the last 18 months/

I think now she is starting to feel guilty about her actions towards this woman.

My question is what does the last stages of Lupus mean?
