I am severely carbohydrate reactive and didn't realize until recently

what the problem was. I bought several low carb books and a couple of

hypoglycemia books. They all seem to have much different ideas. I

tried the predominately protein programs and got sick. Tried Chromium

Picolonate and got even sicker. Can anyone direct me to an eating

plan that works for hypo folks.

HELP!!

Hi :)

When I was first diagnosed with hypoglycemia, my doctor told me to avoid

carbs and load up on proteins... BIG MISTAKE Following his instructions,

my blood sugar stayed way low, I got horrible headaches and dizzy spells,

and ended up missing quite a lot of work. After a few weeks of thinking,

" Well, maybe it takes some time to adjust to it, " I gave in and called my

doctor back.

He set up an appointment for me with a nutritionist, who put me on the

Diabetic diet. At first, it was a bit of a pain, having to measure and

weigh everything, but I quickly learned to " eye-ball " things. That was

about 2 years ago. If I follow the diet, I rarely have blood sugar crashes

and it doesn't leave me feeling hungry...

While it worked for me, it might not work for everyone else, but I think

it's well worth checking into.

I really don't think there are any fast easy answers on diet for any

of us concerning whats right for us. You will have to do trial and

error with each individual food. Fibro appears to be at least a

partially metabolism based problem, and no one has the same

metabolism.

Do trial and error tests of your own, always keeping a diary of what

you ate and how it made you feel. Then you should be able tosee some

patterns, decide what way of eating works best for you. Since we are

the only ones who know how we feel inside our own bodies, it only

makes sense we should pay attention to what our bodies are trying to

tell us. The problem is there are no fast answers.
