Hard to believe it's been 5 years. That was a very dramatic transplant.Marie

Response lost again! one more time.

Will do. I checked, and it's not there - I still even have the CB site

bookmarked! I can't believe I never posted it before. My apologies to

Todd, , Joanne and Steve. :( I suspect it's because of the

second transplant (12/12/03 - I generally only "celebrate" the latest

one), but here's the first one. Thanks for pointing out my error.

Surgery is over, and the boys are doing very well! They are both in

recover. is sound asleep and not complaining of pain; Todd is

still sedated. The transplant team and coordinators say things are

great. Joanne wanted everyone to know they are doing well, and she will

give you all more information tonight.

THE GUYS ARE DOING GREAT!!!

I am truly exhausted and am hoping to get some sleep tonight as I know

the guys are in great hands with their ICU nurses and we can't see them

again until tomorrow at 10:00am. But before I go to bed I just wanted

to quickly give you all a quick update. We got to see both guys

tonight. They both looked great. I was so surprised to see making

jokes in the recovery room and also thanking all of his doctors for

doing such a great job. He was so alert. The epidural he received for

pain has been working very well so far. He stayed in recovery longer

than necessary, but they didn't have a bed available for him up in ICU.

Once he got to ICU he was able to sleep much better, because it was so

much quieter. When we left him he was sound asleep and the nurse said

he was doing fantastic. The only thing he really doesn't like is the

nasogastric tube (I think that is what it is called). He can't wait for

that to come out. Todd is still sedated and still is on the ventilator.

He looks so peaceful and also is getting some color back in his skin.

He did great during surgery. He was very anemic and needed a blood

transfusion. But they said the transplant went fantastic. We were all

so surprised and thrilled that both guys were in ICU by 7:00pm and on

the road to recovery. We really didn't think that was going to happen

until 10 or 11.

It is a glorious day. Our guys had a good night. was up talking

to his nurse about his fishing trips (if you know , then you know

he is feeling good). He told the nurse to let me know he wasn't in

pain, because he knew I would be worrying. After all he is gone through

he is still thinking of everyone else. Yesterday he kept wanting us to

go be with Todd...he said he was feeling good and he didn't want Todd

to be alone. He was so happy Todd was doing good. He even had his nurse

check on Todd during the night. What a true love and bond those two

brothers share.

maybe that was another post that went missing.
