Guest guest
Hi! For what it's worth, I had to be taken off of Ursodiol because of side effects, but they put me on Urso Forte and I haven't had any (or many) problems with that. Guest guest
> > Has anyone else had to stop taking Ursodiol because of side effects? =============================================== Yes, indeed!!! Urso gave me intense abdominal pain, nausea, headaches, and (weirdly enough) night terrors. They switched me to Actigall (same drug, slightly different formulation) but I suffered the very same side effects. And so, I don't take anything to thin the bile. There are just a very tiny handful of us in this group who can't tolerate this drug, but we do exist! I must say, the idea of taking phenobarbitol seems pretty drastic to me. I've managed quite well without the Urso .... I sure wouldn't be willing to take phenobarb!!! Regards, Carolyn B. in SC

Guest guest
Hi Carolyn, My situation is weird in that I am dependent on a biliary drain threaded all the way across my liver. It drains internally, through the anastomosis created by the Roux-en-Y. If the bile isn't kept thin enough to go through the little holes in the drain tube, you might as well butter me - I'm toast. Guest guest
Anita, I know one member posted that they were having problem with the dose prescribed but they reduced the dose and slowly raised it back up and the side effects were eliminated.
