Yes, indeed!!! Urso gave me intense abdominal pain, nausea,

headaches, and (weirdly enough) night terrors. They switched me to

Actigall (same drug, slightly different formulation) but I suffered

the very same side effects. And so, I don't take anything to thin the

bile. There are just a very tiny handful of us in this group who

can't tolerate this drug, but we do exist!

I must say, the idea of taking phenobarbitol seems pretty drastic to

me. I've managed quite well without the Urso .... I sure wouldn't be

willing to take phenobarb!!!

Hi Carolyn,

My situation is weird in that I am dependent on a biliary drain threaded all the way across my liver. It drains internally, through the anastomosis created by the Roux-en-Y. If the bile isn't kept thin enough to go through the little holes in the drain tube, you might as well butter me - I'm toast.
