Guest guest
Hi, I was diagnosed 4 months ago with rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia. I'm in mid-40s and female. I'm having difficulty now cause the symptoms are overlapping. It's awful to have the joint pain and swelling in my hands throbbing away and then suddenly seize up in all the classic FMS " tender points " ... At that point I usually give up and try to sleep or take some pain meds, which I would prefer to avoid. I'm very curious about the relationship between FMS and sleep. Since starting an SSRI-type antidepressant a few years ago i have had no trouble sleeping and have little trouble waking in the morning. As far as REM sleep, I seem to experience most vivid dreams as I'm falling asleep and right before waking -- of course this is my own observation. Had a sleep study long ago and it was normal. Do most folks with FMS suffer sleep disruption that they are conscious of, or is most only visible during an EEG or sleep study? What types of exercise, if any, do those of you with FMS find helpful? Does anyone use acupuncture? Thanks and best to all
